A GODLY MAN
A man is like
a mountain. His strength is inside and it was given from above. He grows in
wisdom and dignity with the ages.
He is home to his family, strength for the powerless and steadfast
friend of the spiritually empty.
And he knows he was flawed from the beginning.
He can be stripped of
his surface values mined of his heart-treasures, defamed and humiliated. His
spiritual rivers can become polluted or almost drained dry. His character can
easily be smeared and his integrity be questioned. Though scarred experiential
canyons may mark his path and his face, still he holds fast.
Through it all, he can withstand the
distracting thunder, the lightning’s flash attack, the fire, earthquake,
avalanche, and flood with the shining, inner strength of his faith.
In his pilgrimage, time alone will
crack his face, shatter his knees, and crumble his feet, yet some day his
spirit will soar.
For now, he still stands facing the
wind, open and vulnerable as before, but he still stands
because he first learned how to kneel;
and he
knows The ONE
who
commands the sea
and he
knows
WHOSE he is.
