THE VIVRETT LEGACY:
OUR STORY IN
*ALL VARIOUS SPELLINGS
It is a people story
It is an American
story
It is our story.
It’s the story of
pain and despair,
compassion
and prayer.
It is a story of
simple pleasures
and people
treasures.
It’s the story of the
longago people;
our people.
It is a story of
slavery and shame
repentence and restoration.
It’s the story of our
family tragedy
of blood letting
foolishness;
tribal
feuding with deadly intent
It is the story of
officers
and
infantry men
and blood
against blood.
We lost our humility
and paid a
terrible price!
It’s a story of strong , courageous women
and lean,
hard men with dreams,
and
towheaded kids just along for the ride.
It is THE story of a
one-legged carpenter
a
blacksmith or two,
a priest or
two
with Huguenots like Washington_ all the way
back.
-
teachers and
preachers
-
nurses and
pharmacists
-
machinists and
millers
-
lawyers and miners
-
shopkeepers and
clerks
but mostly
Ours is the story of
planters turned farmers;
farmers
with respect
for
this new land.
We were- mostly
saints, yet sinners all.
We are the substance
The common man ingredients
That made this country.
Ours is a story
as old as
as new as
tomorrow morning
and
It’s Our
story.
We’ll honor the name
We’ll keep the faith
We’ll stay the
course.
joie de vivre!
