The newspaper has its roots in five predecessors, beginning with the Waco Evening Telephone in 1892. The Tribune-Herald took its current identity when E.S. "Alta Louise Ridge, 88, of Mexia, passed away Nov. 26, 2010, at her home in Mexia. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with the Rev. Jay R. Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia City Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.Louise was born in Mexia, Texas, to the late Almer and Lena (Dailey) Person. She retired from the Mexia State School after 20 years of service. She married Jesse Sunday on Jan. 10, 1942. Louise was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved nothing better than spending time with her family. She never missed a chance to watch her grandchildren in sporting events, she was their biggest fan. Louise was also a big Texas Ranger fan. On May 3, 1978, she married John E. "Kink" Ridge. Louise was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Sunday on Nov. 23, 1970; son, Bobbie Ridge; grandson, Barry Winn; and brothers, Lavoy and Wilton Person.Louise is survived by her husband, John Ridge; children, Judy Vickery and husband, J.T., of Lost Prairie, Charles "Buddy" Sunday and wife, Patsy, of Mexia, Brenda George and husband, Steve, of Corsicana, Mike Sunday and wife, Doris Ann, of Mexia, Jan Winn and husband, Curtis, of Groesbeck, and Billie Ridge and wife, Janet, of Groesbeck; grandchildren, Melanie Koudelka and husband, Allan, of Bryan, Lisa Garner, of Mexia, Laurie Murphey and husband, Robert, of Mexia, Brandi Fatkin and husband, Zack, of Temple, Pa., Cody Sunday and wife, Val, of Mexia, Justin Vickery and wife, Chaun, of Crowley, Kali Barco and husband, Timothy, of Waco; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Harp, of Mexia, and a number of nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in Mexia City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Doris was born in Mexia, Texas, to the late Almer L. and Lena B. Dailey Person. She married J. D. Sunday on January 29, 1942. She retired from the Mexia State School after 18 years of service. Doris was a longtime active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia. She loved her church and church family. One Sunday, she received special recognition as the church's longest standing member.Doris love for God and her family was evident in her life. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was always there for her family. If they were involved in school or other activities, she was going to be there supporting them. Doris always attended their sporting events, regardless of weather.She was preceded in death by her husbands, J. D. Sunday on April 21, 1960, Tommy Maden, and Carl Harp; son, Jerry Don Sunday; grandson, Kelly Don Sunday; granddaughter by marriage, Debra Sunday; brothers, Lavoy and Wilton Person; and sister, Louise Ridge.Doris is survived by her son, Bobby W. "Obituary for Dean Hancock Garland Dean Hancock, 71, of Mexia passed away January 11, 2012 at his home in Mexia. Funeral services will be 11AM, Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Sain officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5-6:30 p.m. Friday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Dean was born August 13, 1940 in Limestone County to Garland "Tunk" and Helen Taylor Hancock. He graduated from Mexia High School in 1958. Dean married Carolyn Liles on December 11, 1958 in Teague, Texas. He had been a local businessman since 1969 and he and Carolyn have owned the Snack Shack since 1973. He was a paint contractor for many years and a retiree of the Mexia ISD Maintenance and Transportation Department, where he worked for 10 years. Dean was an avid golfer and one who never met a stranger. He, especially, loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Johnny Joe Hancock, Sr. Dean is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carolyn of Mexia; sons, Terry Hancock and wife, Kim of Denton, Kenny Hancock and wife, Lesa and Mickey and wife, Tracy all of Mexia; grandchildren, Ryan Hancock of Ft. Worth, Ashley Hancock of Denton, Katie and Lindsey Hancock of Mexia, Jennifer Mulkey and husband, Chris of Denton, Josh Epperson of Denton, Taylor and Sydney Groveton of Mexia; one great-grandchild, Taelin Hancock of Mexia; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Hudnall, Walter Van DeWeghe, Kenneth Norris, Harvey Williams, Mike Sunday, Jimmy "Smitty" Smith. His Fellow Golfers will serve as honorary pallbearers. "Gilbert Calvin "Jack" Sartor, 88, of Baytown, TX was born May 13, 1926, in Teague, TX and passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, in a local hospital. He retired in 1982 from Humble Oil and Refining Company as a Machinist Planner with over 36 years of service and was a longtime member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church. He enjoyed toying around with machinery and was an avid gardener who always kept a large vegetable garden. He went to schools in Crosbyton, Texas, Idalou, Texas, Roaring Springs, Texas Crowell, Texas, Vernon, Texas and graduated from Mexia High School in 1968. After graduation, he went into the Army that August. During his six years in the service, Bueford served in Korea, Thailand and Okinawa. After he completed his service he worked for several businesses including; Brown Oil & Gas, Teague Brick & Tile Co., City of Mexia, City of Wortham, City of Streetman, KDT Construction and several drilling companies. He married Linda Sue Hicks on October 1, 1971 at Lake Mexia.
