47. Jay Porter Owens
Also known as J C Owens, Left his wife and kids in Iowa Park, Texas in August 1935, never heard of again until this family tree was researched by his grandson Jerry Smith. His SS number was found and led to Calif. Along side his grave is "Mary Owens Wife". His son Delmer went to Calif. and saw the grave and met a woman who had known them. She said they were the nicest couple and had stood up for Her wedding.-Jerry Smith
196. Eugene Riley Owens
Fireman (E2) Owens was a crew member aboard the destroyer USS WALKE (DD-723) in Korean waters. He was Killed in Action while engaged with the enemy when it struck a mine on June 12, 1951. His remains were not recovered
Fireman (E2) Owens was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
