280. Laurin Queston Black Sr

Laurin Queston Black, Sr. "Grandad" passed away in League City, TX on June 26, 2011 at the age of 93. He was born on February 14, 1918 in Dew, TX to Benjamin Blaine Black and Maggie Beatrice Richardson. Laurin is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Blaine Black and Maggie Beatrice Richardson; Wife of 61 years, Dorothy Black; an infant brother; brother, Clark Black; and sister, Katherine Pardon.
He is survived by sons, John Black and his wife Mary, Laurin Black, Jr. and his wife Peggy, and Mercer Black and his wife Dawn; daughter, Dorothy Bozeman; grandchildren, Brandi, Adam, Kevin, Melissa, Michael, Jennifer, Lauren, and Jim; 8 great-grandchildren and one expected great-grandchild; and his dog, Nellie.
He was a beloved father, husband, and grandfather, and a life-long Democrat.
Laurin always took care of everyone and always had an ear open for everyone and considered everyone family. He loved his family and got pleasure from giving to anyone, he was the kind of man who would stop on the side of the road to help and he considered everyone family. Laurin worked for Shell from 1941-1963 and was an OCAW International Union Representative from 1963-1985. His proud achievements in life were his long loving marriage, his children, grandchildren, and 55 years of membership to the OCWA local 4-367. Laurin will be dearly missed.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 9-10 a.m. at Grand View Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home.
