2Margie Ellis Howell, Wilson Family History.
"From Margie Ellis Howell:
Excerpt from "History of Millwood & St. Alphonsus Parish" by Andrew Mudd of Lincoln County, M o., published 1927.

In an account of early settlers in the Millwood area: "The first grist mill was built by Josiah Wilson, grandfather of Sheriff Houston, who settled 2 miles east of Millwood in 1818 an d was operatedby lever power." Josiah was born 1762-65, probably in Botetourt County. He married Margaret Crow (dau of William Crow andMargaret Lewis Long Crow) in Botetourt County.

Their marriage record is onfile in the courthouse at Fincastle. They were married 9 Nov 1790 in BotetourtCounty, Va., Marriage Record. 9 November 1790 Josiah Wilson to Margaret (Peggy) Crow Parent of wife was William Crow. Witnesses were John Crow and Thomas Willson.

It is not known when Josiah and Margaret left Virginia and came to Kentucky. The descendants of their daughter Jane (Jennie) Wilson Hawkins, believethey were in Lexington, Ky., as early as 1797, when she was born. Lovica Gruwell, believes our Josiah Wilson was connected in someway to the Josiah Wilson who lived in Lexington and had wife Hannah.

Josiah and Margaret may have comeinto Kentucky first to Lexington, stayed over a while with relatives Josiah Wilson and wife Hannah, then went on to what is now Adair County, then Green County, where he entered land.

The first documented evidence we have that Josiahand Margaret are in Kentucky was on 22 Feb 1799 when Josiah wrote a letter back to Virginia: Botetourt County, Va. Deed Book 6 page 647 State of Kentucky, Goose Creek, February 22, 1799.

Your producing these lines to the Court will in my opinion be tothe same purpose as if I was personally present therefore I constitute you to Act and do according to the above directions. Given under my hand this day abovewritten. Signed: Josiah Wilson Witnessess: Thomas Crow

Thomas Wilson Shortly after this, Josiah Wilson entered land in what was then Green, now Adair County. We know that Josiah's brother Thomas and his family were living near him. Green County, Ky, page 193 of County Entry Book. Dated: 28 May 1799 Josiah Wilson enters 200 Ac res of 2nd rate land by virtue of."
