"Funeral services for Mr. Charles H. Herring, 80, will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Keithville, LA. Officiating will be Bro. Mike Stowell and Mr. Walter Lee. Interment will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery in Keithville. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Keithville. Mr. Herring was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Charles was born March 2, 1930 in Gilliam, LA and passed away at home in Keithville on April 21, 2010. Charles served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Caddo Parish School Board after serving 31 years as Garage Foreman. After retirement he enjoyed raising and tending to Beefmaster cattle and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth Herring; two sisters, Rosemary Herring and Ruth Schopp; two brothers, Sam Herring and Hershel Herring. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Corine King Herring; one daughter, Kathy Mitchell and husband Steve; one son, Ronnie Herring and wife Duanna; grandchildren, Jennifer Christy and husband Landon, Jamie Herring, Krystle Herring, Stephanie Haynes and husband Russell, Charles Mitchell, Luke Herring, Chris Hadwin, Derek Hadwin and wife Ashley; great-grandchildren, Leigha Grace Christy, Layton Charles Christy and Tyler Hadwin; two sisters, Dorothy Crowley and husband Bill, Emerjean Grenkevich and husband Skee, and one brother, Robert Herring. Pallbearers will be Landon Christy, Chris Hadwin, Derek Hadwin, Russell Haynes, Luke Herring and Charles Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Crosslin, Don Greene and Charlie Myers. The family would like to especially thank the Odyssey Hospice team and Dr. Anthony Stuart. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Keithville Building Fund. Mrs. Hall was born in Mira, LA on February 18, 1932 to Virgil and Ida Beckham and passed away on September 28, 2012 at The Grace Home in Shreveport, LA after a brief illness. Mrs. Hall has been a resident of Vivian, LA since 1950, was a homemaker, former member of the First Baptist Church in Vivian and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Hall is preceded in death by her son, Wayne Hall, parents, Virgil and Ida Beckham, brother, Gene Beckham and sister, Francis Mitchell. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Hall, Sr of Vivian, LA, three sons, Lester Hall and wife, Gloria of Vivian, LA, John Hall and wife, Mira of Bossier City, LA and Don Hall and wife Rene of Mooringsport, LA She is also survived by four sisters, Ruth Fielder of Tyler, TX. He was a resident of Vivian, LA most of his life, retired operator with UOP after 23 years of service, member of the Vivian Masonic Lodge and a US Army Air Corps veteran. Mr. Hall is preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Hall, wife, Ida Vernice Hall and son, Maurie Wayne Hall. Those left to cherish is memory are his three sons, James Lester Hall Jr. and wife, Gloria of Vivian, LA., Donale Jorge Hall and Renee Rivers of Mooringsport, LA., and John Thomas (Tommy) Hall and wife Myra of Bossier City, LA. Surviving Nelda are three daughters, Ada Susaine Wintle, Martha Joy Allen and Meagan Lynn Cockrell all of Marshall; three grandsons, Trey Robert Allen of El Paso, Caden Lane Williams, and Samuel Lane Wintle, both of Marshall; one granddaughter, Callee Kay Cockrell of Marshall; husband, Gregory Joe Cockrell; mother, Joy Faye Eaves; brother, Leonard Eaves; sister, Linda Messick and husband Rory all of Marshall and one niece, Mallory McClain of Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Wintle and her father, Cecil R. Eaves. Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Eaves, Joe Cockrell and Rayford Church."
