Descendants of Robert Wilson

Notes

5. Margaret Wilson

Squire John and Margaret Hammonds lived all of their married life in Pulaski County, Kentucky, on a farm, portion of which is now owned in 2009 by Bruce A. Pierce. This land is located less than one mile back of the Chester View Church, which is on Highway 80, in Pulaski County. Chester View Church is about two miles east of a vicinity on Highway 80 that is known as Cains Store. Most of their 14 children are shown to be born in Cains Store. However, the current address of the Hammonds Cemetery located on Pierce Grain Farms is 1205 Burnetta Road, Nancy, KY 42544.

John Hammonds

John Hammonds was referred to as Squire John because of his extensive land holdings and wealth and to differentiate him from other John Hammonds. In his will written on January 5, 1848, he provides for his wife Margaret, three slaves, and most of his children. John and Margaret, as well as other family members, are buried on a knob in the field above their old home. It is a small private cemetery that is only about 50 feet by 50 feet. The Hammonds Cemetery is on land currently owned by Bruce A. Pierce.
