IMOF INC. 2002 From the Director’s computer Lester G. Davis

The Holy Spirit dealt with me about being offended. He showed me in the bible the story of Moses and his brother Aaron just before God allowed the children of Israel to cross the Jordan into the promised land of Canaan. I saw in the bible for the first time why Moses and Aaron lost their opportunity to enter into the promise of God for them. The story goes like this; the children of Israel were tired and thirsty and there wasn’t any water for drinking where they were in the desert. They were murmuring and complaining to Moses about it. Moses and Aaron were offended because the people blamed him. How do I know this? Because of what Moses and Aaron did next. They went to pray and tell God what the people were saying and wanting. God told Moses to speak to the rock and water would come out. This is the second time God used the rock to give them water. He told Moses to strike the rock the first time with his staff. Moses picked up his staff that was laid before him and he and Aaron left the presence of God. He did not discern the change in God’s method of doing things because of what he did next. Moses went before the people offended and in a rage as he rebuked them for troubling him and God. In this offended rage, Moses struck the rock instead of speaking to it as God had said. God allowed water to come from the rock, but he told Aaron and Moses that they would die in the wilderness without entering into the promise land. He told them that they did not honor him by speaking to the rock, which would have given God the Glory and not Moses and Aaron.

I saw some things that will stop us from receiving God’s best for our lives. If we are offended by the changes brought by God in our lives, or if others offend us, it causes us to stumble. We are too close to the finish line to be stumbling by being offended by anything. God wanted to show His grace in a new way but offence clouded them from seeing this. We are entering into a new dimension of God’s grace as Christians and if we aren’t careful, like Moses and Aaron, we will not discern it and stumble because we will be offended. When we are offended, we become disobedient and loose the promises of God for us. Shirley and I have had many opportunities to be offended by the people we are trying to teach, and sometimes have been. We don’t want to miss the promises of God towards us so we are thankful that God has seen fit to give us this insight into His nature. We also want God to receive His glory for his awesome works in the earth. We want to honor God for what He is doing in these last days. God’s grace is greater in these days than the darkness covering the earth. I encourage you to embrace God’s new move of grace and don’t allow the devil or your feelings rob you of your promises.
