Playmate toys began manufacturing WWF figures shortly in early 1997. The quality of the figures were excellent but the competition with JAKKS PACIFIC soon dominated the wrestling figure business and Playmates was out of the wrestling department as soon as they came in. With only releasing 4 different lines of figures and producing only half of the expected series Playmates halted production. After stopping their WWF figure line they sold the rest of the WWF Playmates figures to JAKKS who re-labeled them with stickers and sold them.
