"You did WHAT??" Jessie laughed into the pillow, looking at Wendi amazed. The 2 burst into laughter again at the events over the past 24 hours. "I know, I know. I shouldn't have, but I couldnt help it!" Wendi said trying to justify her actions. It only resulted in more laughter. "crazy, I know. But it just felt like the right thing to do!" "hey- I understand... I mean, you KNOW what I did!" Jessie said pointing at herself. More laughter filled the room. "Insane! Thats what we are. INSANE!" "Oh, Lordy but its fun, eh?" Wendi asked gasping for air. "Life is good." Jessie looked at her friend's radiant smile and couldnt help but smile herself. Those few hours she thought Wendi was mad at her were Hell, but now... she looked so happy, so alive. Maybe she was over Tommy's death after all... "Ok, its bedtime. If I'm gonna get up and face those guys tomorrow, then I need my beauty sleep!" Announced Wendi. Jessie agreed. The light was turned out and deep breathing filled the room only moments later.
The next afternoon, the phone rang, ripping the girls from their deep slumber. "hello?" answered a raspy morning voice from wendi. "hey baby. How are you?" asked the voice on the other end. "Oh! Hey there, I'm good....no, you - well, yes, you woke me up... she's- what? No- she's laying here...still asleep... we didnt go to bed until late... no... sure. We'd love to. Alright see ya later. Love you too. Bye." Sighing, Wendi hung up the phone and plopped back down on her pillow. Sitting up, Jessie turned and asked "Who was on the phone? Lover boy?" they laughed and Wendi informed Jessie about a trip to the lake that they had planned. Getting up the girls got ready and left an hour later.
After hours of swimming and jet skiing and other lake activities, the couples layed out blankets and looked at the stars. AJ had his arm around Wendi as she layed her head on his chest. Brian and Jessie sat huddled together whispering and giggling. The full moon emerged from behind a cloud and illuminated the silver lake. AJ leaned over and the 2 became immersed in a kiss so passionate that there was no way out of it. Wendi realized she was over Tommy's death and that she was free to move on. His arms tightened around her as if it was a sign that she was right where she needed to be. Brian's lips moved closer to jessie's signaling that promise of love she saw in his eyes. Her dream guy.. she had to smile. All those nights of dream after dream... what an amazing way to end up. The couples layed down and settled in for a romantic night... ...starting with one more kiss...
