Backstreet Bunnies

©B.B.2000

Once upon a time, there were five fuzzy bunnies. One was a chocolate brown with emerald green eyes, and a patch of white fuzz between his ears. They called him Kevin. The next one was black with big brown eyes and big teeth named Howie. The next one was a light brown color with icey blue eyes named Brian. He loved to bounce and could go higher than any of the bunnies. The next one was a white bunny with cute little blue eyes named Nick. He had a habit of chewing on his feet. The last one, the rascal bunny, was named Bone. He wasn't the same color as the other bunnies. When he was a baby, he was captured by the two-legged giants. During the giant's mysterious religious ceremony, called "Easter", he was dyed green. Bone managed to escape, but was never able to get the dye off of his fur. It's a symbol that reminds him everyday of his gruesome past. Locked in a cage and fed processed food pellets everday, he was forced to take out his sexual frustrations on the smaller female bunnies. But now he is free and has been accepted into this tribe of other bunnies.

The group has explored the forest, hoping to find a happy place to live. Along the way, the group encounters three little creme-colored bunnies munching on some flowers. Nick twitched his ears, watching the bunnies, and wiggled his nose with curiosity. He creeped up to one of the bunnies and poked her tail with his paw. The girl bunny turned around and smiled, offering a daisy. He takes the daisy softly, and starts to chew on his foot. The girl bunny just giggled and bounced away, Nick trailing close behind.

Kev and Howie chuckled, watching Nick's chunky bunny butt bounce behind a tree. Another girl bunny looks over her shoulder and stares a Brian. She creeps over softly and stops in front of him, staring into his pretty blue bunny eyes. Brian looks back at the girl bunny and smiles, hopping up and down continuously. The girl bunny grabs Brian's feet and pulls him back to the ground. She nuzzles her cheek with his nose and steps back. Turning around slowly, she wiggled her fuzzy white tail and disappeared down a rabbit hole. Brian looks over at Bone, who was too busy checking out the last girl bunny. So he shrugged his bunny shoulders and bounced down into the rabbit hole.

The last girl bunny watched this mysterious green bunny crawl towards her. His fresh green fur blended in with the grass around him, turning him into a creeping predator. She backed up into a large oak tree as he came closer. She was a little uneasy about this strange looking bunny. He didn't look like the others. Bone stopped a few inches from her, and scratched his ear with his little bunny foot. The little girl bunny copied his movement, scratchin behind her ear also. Bone cocked his head to the side, studying her behavior. This expression made the girl bunny giggle. Bone smiled, and then crossed his eye and stuck out his little pink bunny tongue. The girl bunny mocked Bone, sticking out her tongue also.

Bone looked behind him, and saw Kevin and Howie whispering to him, pointing at the girl bunny, cheering him on. Bone shrugged his shoulder and turned back around. To his surpise, the girl bunny was gone. He drooped his little bunny ears, sad to see his friend disappear.

"...over here..." a little voice whispered. Bone hopped over to the oak tree and saw the girl bunny burrowed insid a hole under the daisies. Bone jumped for joy, happy to see his little bunny girlfrind. Without hesitation, he rushed down into the rabbit hole.

The months flew by in a flash, and spring became summer. Summer evolved into winter, and then spring returned again. The leaves were rich and green, the daisies bloomed uncontrollably. Creeping thorugh the meadows, a small baby rabbit was seen jumping through the tall grass, chasing a butterfly. Far off in the distance, another bunny, much taller and older than the baby, stood out from the meadow. The baby bunny looked at the other, and raced back towards it. It nuzzled up against the older bunny and followed it back into the forest.
