Mary Ann Ables, the widow of Harrison Ables, submitted a pension application for the time that Harrison served in the army for the Republic of Texas. According to his children in a 1927 article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Harrison fought under Sam Houston and was a member of the detachment that captured Santa Anna. **NOTE: I do not know how these two people are connected to William and Mary, but it appears that their last name is Ables.

This census shows that William was born in Texas but both of his parents were born in Tennessee. It also shows that Mary Ann was born in Mississippi.

Mary A. Ables (b. Feb 1845) age 55 married 38 years 11 children 10 living

Amanda Bell Ables (b. Jan 1871) is married to Richard Marion Coppedge in this same census and it looks like they are right next door to each other. At this point they have 5 children.

William R. Ables - age 67 - born in Texas - marriage # 2 - married for 3 years
Laura - age 47 - born in Alabama - marriage # 2 - married for 3 years - has 3 children that are still living
NOTE: Since none of the children are listed, one can assume that these are grown children from Laura's previous marriage.
NOTE: William's previous wife, Mary, died January 12, 1907 and was buried at the "old Dublin Cemetery" according to the Dublin Progress dated January 18, 1907.
