After the death of V.C. Andrews in 1986, a public letter written by the Andrews family (printed in the novels) revealed that the family was "working closely with a carefully selected writer" to expand and continue her story-telling genius. The identity of this writer had been kept a secret from the general public at the request of the Andrews family for years. The ghostwriter has since been identified as thriller and horror novelist Andrew Neiderman. With more than two dozen novels published under his own name in two decades, this experienced writer has earned a fan following of his own. Some of his newer books are available to purchase, while most of his out-of-print books can be found at used book stores and thrift shops. A list of Neiderman's works appears further down on this page. There has been much question as to which novels were written by Ms. Andrews, and which were finished or written alone by Andrew Neiderman. The primary novels in question are Garden of Shadows and the last three books of the Heaven series. Many say that these novels were begun by V.C. Andrews and finished by her successor, but Neiderman claims that no unfinished manuscripts were presented to him. The novels written by Ms. Andrews were Flowers in the Attic, Petals on the Wind, If There Be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, My Sweet Audrina, Heaven, and Dark Angel. The novels that may have been begun by Andrews and finished by Neiderman were Garden of Shadows, Fallen Hearts, Gates of Paradise, and Web of Dreams. Everything after Dawn was written by Neiderman.
