  • The pictures of the moors portray the setting of the novel Wuthering Heights. The setting is the wild Yorkshire moors of England. Thrushcross Grange is situated in the valley. "Wuthering" is a Yorkshire word for "weathering" and is an appropriate word for the house which is situated on the wild moors and whose rugged structure is due to the never-ending winds. This setting is also a place of significance for Emily Bronte. A windswept land of heather and wild moors, this area was the inspiration for the classic works of Emily Bronte, such as Wuthering Heights , which was reputedly inspired by the isolated moorland farmstead.

The weather is also symbolic to the conditions at Wuthering Heights. When there is hate and violence in the house, it is stormy, and it is calm when there is harmony, which occurs when Heathcliff tires from his desire for revenge and is united after death with Catherine. This picture reflects the dark, violent, and stormy aspect of the novel.
