situated in the valley. "Wuthering" is a Yorkshire word for "weathering" and is an appropriate word for the house which is situated on the wild moors and
whose rugged structure is due to the never-ending winds. This setting is also a place of significance for Emily Bronte. A windswept land of heather
and wild moors, this area was the inspiration for the classic works of Emily Bronte, such as Wuthering Heights , which was reputedly inspired by the isolated moorland farmstead.

- The picture represents the darkness of Wuthering Heights. The wind in the picture reflects the violent, never-ceasing winds at Wuthering Heights. "Wuthering" being a significant provincial adjective, descriptive of the atmospheric tumult to which its station is exposed in stormy weather" (Bronte 2). The weather is also symbolic to the conditions at Wuthering Heights. When there is hate and violence in the house, it is stormy, and it is calm when there is harmony, which occurs when Heathcliff tires from his desire for revenge and is united after death with Catherine. This picture reflects the dark, violent, and stormy aspect of the novel.
