Five months passed, bringing about several changes. Backstreet made a clean break from Jive Records. They were in the middle of recording their first album for Arista. They were also pleased with the way their own record company was doing. Keeping the record label Jive had helped them start was one of the things they had negotiated when renewing with Jive the first time. Kristen was expecting the Richardsons' second child and Maddy was due to give birth at any moment. Grace had excepted the job with the Music Therapy Association and made some special appearances during this time, but mainly she worked with Kassidy on preparing for her first speaking tour. The MTA had eagerly accepted Grace’s proposal. Kassidy and Grace worked with James to coordinate everything.
Also during this time, Kassidy forwarded pictures of some of Nick’s drawings to her friends. They had sent back their comments along with examples of their own work. Both friends agreed Nick had talent. One friend asked and received permission from Nick to share his drawings with an art gallery in New York. The gallery had hosted a 25 year retrospective of the artist's work the previous year. The gallery owner contacted Nick about showing his work. Nick was shocked, but with encouragement from everyone he agreed.
All of this brought them to the evening at hand. Nick’s show was opening. The Backstreet had spent the last six weeks recording in New York. Everyone was at the opening. The media was in high gear. Even Maddy was there. Though in her last six weeks of her pregnancy, she had traveled with Howie to NYC. She wanted to be with him no matter what. The Backstreet Ladies, as the press dubbed them, were gathered at the back of the gallery while the Backstreet Boys mingled. So many people were complimenting Nick. A smile never left his face.
“Maddy I can’t believe you lasted the whole night,” commented Grace.
“Yeah I’m pretty beat.” Maddy rubbed her rounded belly and said, “For some reason I’ve had a burst of energy the last two days. Leigh why are you looking at Kristen that way?”
“Nesting,” stated Kristen.
“That would be my guess,” agreed Leighanne.
“Hello! Please explain to the pregnant woman in the room.”
Leighanne said, “you are in the nesting phase. You are going to have that baby soon.”
“Well I hope so. It’s been nine months. I’m as big as a house. Tell me something, can you all see my feet? I haven’t seen them in over a month. I never thought I’d miss my feet, but I do.”
Kassidy laughed, “I see them. With the way they are swelling you don’t want to see them.”
“Great my back hurts and my feet are ugly.”
“You’re back hurts,” asked Kristen.
“Yeah off and on since this afternoon.”
“Maddy how dilated were you when you went to the doctor?”
“Four centimeters, yesterday. Why Kris,” asked Maddy.
Her OB in Florida had put her in touch with a colleague in New York.
“OK tell us when your back hurts again.”
“Well it happened just a minute ago.”
“Tell me when it happens again. Grace is everything coming together for your job,” asked Kristen changing the subject.
“Yes. We are waiting for James to lock in the last few dates of the first leg, but everything should be set by the end of the month.”
“Good. If you need any help just let me know. I’m glad we are all going on this tour,” commented Leighanne.
“Thanks Leigh. Yeah they have gone from Backstreet Studs to Men with babies,” laughed Grace. “Speaking of babies,” started Kassidy. “How are you feeling these days Kristen.”
“I’m feeling good. By the way, when you are going to walk down the aisle and make an honest man of Nick?”
“I don’t know. Let’s get this little one born then we can talk weddings,” stated Kassi patting Maddy’s tummy.
“Thanks Kass. Kristen the pain just came back.”
“Um…Maddy is the pain getting worse each time?”
“Not every time, but yeah it is worse.”
“Let’s get you moved into an office,” directed Kassidy and Maddy started to fuss. “Do it!”
Maddy moved to an office, but grumbled, “Geesh what’s wrong with you guys?”
Waiting until they were in the office, Leighanne replied, “Maddy we think you may be in labor.”
“No! I mean I know the baby a couple of days late, but these aren’t contractions. I mean my water hasn’t bro…Damn.”
They all looked at her and Kassidy said, “Well it has now.”
“Get Howie,” ordered Maddy.
“Grace is,” answered Kassidy.
He was there in no time asking, “What’s wrong baby?”
“We need to get to the hospital.”
“What?”
“Howard I’m in labor!”
“Oh God. OK! OK! OK! What do we do first? What did we put on the list?”
“What’s going on,” asked Kevin as he walked in the room followed by the rest.
“Maddy’s in labor. Howie listen to me. Is the doctor on speed dial on your cell,” asked Kassi.
“Yes, #1.”
“Give me the phone,” ordered Kristen. “Kev help Howie get Maddy to the car.”
Everyone went into action. The bodyguards were there and Carlos had the Limo brought around back. They didn’t need the media adding to Maddy’s stress. They put her in the car. Nick and AJ commented on the seats getting messed up, but quickly shut up when all the women glared at them. Howie was freaking until the next contraction and Maddy grabbed him saying she was scared. He instantly calmed down and told her he wouldn’t let anything happen to them. Kassidy grabbed Maddy’s room key out of her purse, saying she would get her bag and bring it to the hospital.
Everyone but Nick and Kassidy hopped into the Limo with the couple and it took off. Nick and Kassidy went back inside to explain the situation. Luckily the opening was almost over. After 30 minutes, all the guests were cleared out and the couple was free to leave. They hailed a cab and stopped at the hotel on the way to the hospital. By the time they arrived at the hospital, the group of friends had been moved to a private waiting room with guards posted. The bodyguards were all there too.
“Nick promise me when we have kids we will not let this circus happen,” Kassidy said as she pulled up short outside the waiting room.
“I promise baby. I like the idea of us having kids.”
“Me too, but let’s get this Backstreet Jr. into the world.”
“Deal,” stated Nick, pushing open the door they stepped into the chaos.
Six hours later, Howard Dwaine Dorough Jr. was tucked in his mother’s arms. Both parents had managed to survive the birth. Although, Howie truly believed Jr. would be an only child, because of Maddy’s oath to never let him touch her again. The new little family was left alone to rest and get acquainted.
“Pooh that was pretty amazing,” stated AJ as they road the elevator to their room.
“Yes it was. I’m so happy for them. AJ what are you doing,” asked Grace, when AJ put his hand on her stomach.
“Just imagining what you'll look like, but that won’t be for awhile.”
“It will happen soon enough,” replied Grace.
The next day all of Backstreet went their separate ways. They had agreed to take a week off while Howie and Maddy spent time with the baby. Only Nick and Kassidy left New York. They flew down to their home in the Keys. They had found the house the week after Kassidy moved to Florida.
The realtor had never encountered house hunters like Kass and Nick. She had lined up several houses for them to see. After visiting the second house, she realized she only needed to stay put at the front door. She tried following them around and telling them about the houses. It didn’t work, because they would separate and go in different directions. Their paths would cross, but they would explore alone meeting back up at the front door. With one look, they would turn to her and say, “next.”
However, it was just as easy to know when they found the one they wanted. They separated at the front door, but after a few minutes Kassi squealed. Nick and the realtor ran to her. She was in the master bathroom. She grinned at Nick and he looked around with a smile. He then extended his hand and led her to the back of the house. Kassidy looked out at the water behind the house and hugged Nick. They separated again and the realtor took her post at the front door. Finally, the couple was standing in front of the realtor. They wanted the place. Nick had provided her with a general idea of what they were looking for and Kassidy gave her the price range they had agreed on.
She followed them as they walked through the house together. She pointed out features here and there, but mainly listen to them talk about how they would decorate. It was a modest sized log home with two bedrooms and two baths. The main room played up the log cabin design. The main living space included a fireplace and the kitchen to the side of the room. A sunroom ran almost the entire length of the house in back and was perfect for dinning and relaxing. The bedrooms were on either side of the main room. The guest bedroom was smaller and opened onto the sunroom. The master bedroom came out even with the sunroom on the opposite end. It also opened onto the sunroom. The sunroom itself opened onto the back yard. The house was situated at the end of dead-end street. The backyard was flanked by trees and privacy fences. It opened to a dock. They would have their privacy and the water. In other words it was perfect for Nick and Kassidy.
The couple arrived from New York in the late afternoon. The first thing they did, after putting food away, was head for the dock and watch the sun go down. Wandering back in, they fixed dinner. After making love Nick was spooned behind Kassi, rubbing her stomach. She smiled, because she knew what was going through his mind.
She whispered, “I want one too.”
“Let’s get married,” he also said in a hushed tone.
She turned to face him and asked, “when and where?”
“Do you want to try to make it a church thing?”
Kassi thought before she replied, “No. The press would find out.”
“Then where?”
“Here.”
“Here?”
“Yeah. Everyone we would invite know about this place already, just not the exact location. Also they wouldn’t talk.”
“True. When?”
“How about between when you finish the album and the tour starts?”
“Cool then we can honeymoon all tour,” said Nick kissing her.
“I like that idea.”
“So when do we start trying for kids?”
“I think as soon as we are married. What do you think?”
“Definitely. Now are you talking about on the honeymoon too?”
Again Kassidy paused, “yeah, but that means I go off the pill for the two months prior to the wedding. So you better stock up on latex products.”
“Why two months prior?”
“The doctor always said it was best.”
“Oh OK. I will definitely stock up,” stated Nick. “However right now…”
As his voice trailed off, he kissed her again. He moaned as she welcomed him into her body. They rocked together whispering. Their lovemaking was slow and gentle. Nick buried his face into her neck as he felt her pulse around him and moaned his name. He buried himself as deeply as possible when he released. They drifted off to sleep still joined.
The next few days were spent making love, relaxing in the house or on the water, and planning the wedding. They had to wait until they got back to New York to nail down the exact date, but they decided how they wanted the actual wedding to be. Unlike with her wedding to Kevin, Kassidy was actively planning this wedding. Before she had helped with the planning, but differed to Kevin’s wishes on most things. She realized she had been waiting to marry Nick from almost the day they met. This was her wedding and truly the man she would spend the rest of her life with.
Chapter 59
“Joining me now on the red carpet are the Backstreet Boys. How’s it going tonight,” asked Brian McFadden at the MTV Video Music Awards.
“It’s going,” replied Kevin.
"Nick how do you think Lesley and Aaron will do hosting the show?"
"I think they'll be fantastic."
“You guys didn’t have a video out this year so you aren’t up for any awards. But Howie you will be performing tonight. What can we expect from the performance?”
Howie leaned into the microphone to reply, “We're doing a medley with a twist."
"What's the twist?"
"You have to wait and see," replied AJ.
"We're use to seeing big dance numbers from you guys and I'm sure we won't be disappointed. I see you brought all your ladies with you," noted Brian with a nodded to the women standing to the side.
"We would never leave our loves at home," stated AJ.
"Now Nick you are the last Boy to bite the matrimony bullet. What you're fans are wondering is when will the wedding take place?"
"I'm not saying. But I will say this. It will happen soon enough."
"Fair enough. I'll let you guys get inside while I throw it back to John and Serena. What's going on up there John?"
The group made it's way inside Radio City Music Hall. Aaron and Lesley opened the show with an "Anything you can do I can do better" skit which had everyone rolling. BSB didn't perform until the second hour of the show. As Brian McFadden said, they normally did a big dance number. This time would be different.
A production assistant showed up during a commercial break and the guys followed him out. The Backstreet Ladies with Angel sat together watching the show and waiting.
Finally, Lesley and Aaron introduced the Backstreet Boys. The lights came up and the guys were sitting on stools. Brian did as he always had when they sang a cappella; he gave their pitches. The hall became quiet as the guys began singing. They started with "Time" and moved into "I'll Never Break Your Heart, which gave way to "Drowning". This continued with a song of the new album. Their voice blended and soared together. There was no doubt they were truly singing live and without help. As the last notes died away, there was silence. The guys looked around surprised. All the ladies stood up and cheered. A second later they were joined by the rest of the crowd. The guys bowed and walked off the stage with huge smiles. The crowd was still on it's feet cheering even after Aaron and Lesley came back on stage.
Arista's afterparty was taking place at the Playboy Mansion.
"Howard you know you're way around this place too well," teased Kassi as they walked around the Mansion.
"Don't be getting me in trouble with my wife," scolded Howie.
"It's fine baby. This was part of your life before me," said Maddy.
"That's right," replied Howie, sticking his tongue out at Kassi.
"A place full of Playboy Bunny's, just what I need to be around when I'm as big as a house," grumbled Kristen.
Kevin hugged his pregnant wife and said, "Sexy, none of them can hold a candle to you."
The group separated and mingled. AJ pulled Grace onto the dance floor. He was having fun twirling her. She was wearing a short, full skirt that teased him just like on the night they first made love. He shed his jacket in the limo and tattoos were on display. They were equally matched. Gone was the timid girl he had met in his mom's office. Also gone was the causal Bone. He was completely caught up in his wife. Everything about her from the way she looked and felt to the way she smelled had a hold on him that he hoped never let loose.
Nick was playing pinball with Aaron in the game room. Angel, Lesley and Kassidy had explored the grounds and found the monkey cage. They fed the monkeys until they were joined by some of the Bunnies being pursued by an assortment of musicians. Lesley and Angel were pulled onto the dance floor as they walked past it. Kassidy continued on to the game room.
"Are you two having fun?"
"Yeah," replied Aaron.
"I'm glad," replied Kassidy. "However, I really would like to dance."
Aaron looked at his older brother, who was so engrossed in the game that he didn't hear Kassidy. He looked back at her and shook his head. Kassidy waited a few minutes until Nick lost his turn. As he moved out of Aaron's way, she walked up and kissed him, letting her hand slide down over his leather covered butt. Kassidy pulled away as she felt Nick's arms begin to encircle her. She smirked and walked away. Two pair of eyes watched her walk out the door.
"What was that for," asked Nick.
"Idiot she wants to dance with you."
"Why didn't she say so?"
"She did, but you were too busy to hear," replied Aaron. "Big bro I suggest you get out there and dance with her. It is the only hope you have of getting any later."
"Nice Aaron," said Nick in a sarcastic tone. "Later little bro."
Kassidy made it to the edge of the dance floor before Nick caught up with her. He lifted her off her feet and carried her to the middle of the dance floor. Setting her feet on the floor, he pulled her back into him. Leaning down he nuzzled her neck.
"I understand you want to dance."
"Yes I do."
"So we're dancin'."
"That we are," she agreed.
"Have I already told you how much I love this outfit," asked Nick, commenting her strapless silk top with beading dangling off the bottom and silk loose fitting pants both in black.
"No."
"Well I do…a lot."
"I love you in those leather pants."
"Someone once told me they wanted to see me in leather pants somewhere other than the stage."
"Oh really?"
"Really. I can't figure out what the attraction is."
Kassidy turned in his arms.
"One reason is they fit so nice back here," she said as her hand again slide over his butt.
"Yeah right. Doubt my big ass is all that great to look at."
"Carter, there are websites dedicated to the greatness of your ass. I also like the way you move in them."
"What's different about how I move."
"Your walk has alittle more bad ass in them."
"You're being silly."
"Alright then…how about this? When I see you in leather pants I want to take you then and there."
Nick mouth dropped open, but he closed it quickly. He looked around for the others. Finding Brian, he asked where the others were. Kevin and Kristen had left earlier, but the limo had just gotten back. After checking with everyone and making sure his younger siblings were safe for the evening, Nick pulled Kassidy to the waiting limo. Before raising the glass separating them from the driver, Nick instructed the driver if he heard anything in the back to just turn his radio up.
It was Kassidy turn to close her mouth after it fell open, but it didn't remain that way for long. As soon as the glass was completely raised Nick pulled her into a kiss. His tongue traced her lips then slipped inside when they parted. His hands were under her top. She moaned into his mouth as he thumbs skimmed over her nipples. She pulled away breathless.
"Nick we can't do this here."
"We can and we will."
She stopped him from kissing her again and said, "what's gotten into you."
"I just want you and can't wait to get back to the hotel. Baby please."
Nick cupped her breast in his hands as his mouth moved to her neck. Rational thought left her and she pulled his mouth back to hers in a passionate kiss. Reaching for his pants, they were soon pushed down over his hips. He pulled Kassidy's pants and panties off. She grabbed Nick's billfold and pulled out a condom. Nick started to protest but knew it was only for a few more days. He moaned as Kassidy teased him while slipping the thin latex on. Quickly grabbing her hips, he eased her onto him and was instantly surrounded by her warmth. Their need for release was urgent. Nick had a tight grip on her hips. He bucked up into her. Her fingers were tangled in his hair. The only sounds in the car were their ragged breathing and the sound of their bodies coming together. They were both fighting very hard not to make noise. Kassi's name left Nick's lips in a low hiss as he released. She soon buried her head in the crook of his neck as she fought to not scream his name as she climaxed. Their bodies slowed. Kassidy eased off him. He pulled the condom off and looked at her. She reached for the small purse she had carried with her. She pulled out its contents and held it in front of him.
"Here. I don't need this purse anymore."
"Works for me and I will buy you a new purse."
"No need. I think it's worth the sacrifice."
"Most definitely," he agreed with a big smile.
"Ok Cheshire Cat get dressed. We have to be close to the hotel."
"I hope so."
"Why?"
"Cause woman I ain't done with you yet."
"Oh goody. I like your leather pants attitude."
They finished dressing as the limo pulled up in front of the hotel. They went inside and Nick proved his leather pants attitude.
Chapter 60
The following morning AJ awoke to the light touch of something very soft on his back. Turning his head to the side he slowly opened his eyes. Grace was sitting beside him in a white silk robe. It was hanging open to reveal nothing underneath. She was using the silk belt to trace over his skin. He let her play for a couple of minutes.
"Morning Pooh."
"Morning."
"Having fun?"
"Yep. You?"
"Yep, but," he said as he turned over. "Let's give this side some attention."
"OK," agreed Grace, but before she continued she pulled the sheet to his knees.
He lay very still, watching her move. Every once in awhile the robe moved and he caught a glimpse of her breast. Grace was enjoying looking at AJ. She moved the belt over his chest then down over his stomach. His muscles tightened when she drew it in circles around his belly button, then she moved his lower over his hardness.
"Pooh," rasped AJ.
"What baby?"
"You know what I want."
"Let me see if I guess right."
Grace raised from the bed and straddled his hips. Pressing his erection against his stomaching Grace lowered her self against him with the sash between them. AJ felt the silk, but only wanted to feel Grace.
"Pooh please."
"Hmmm?"
"Pooh please, baby I need you so bad."
"Alright Alex," she whispered.
She slowly pulled the silk from between them, causing them both to moan. She moved against him then finally raised up to take him in. As she sat on him fully she reached to remove the robe, but he stopped her. There was something extremely sexy about her being partially covered while on top of him. He reached for her hands and entwined their fingers. Their lovemaking was slow and easy in the early morning light. They moved as one until spent. Slowly untangling themselves, they got ready for the day.
"Got everything Pooh?"
"Think so. The question is Mr. Forgetful do you have everything?"
"Did you find anything when you searched?"
"Nope."
"Then I've got everything. Come on we have plane to catch."
"I can not believe Nick and Kassi are getting married in two days."
"Bout damn time, Pooh."
"I know, but they have kept it such a secret. The media hasn't caught on, which is a miracle."
"I'm still trying to figure out how they are going to pull it off and where."
"I know. Come on let's blow this Popsicle stand."
"Kass why do I have to stay with Dad," whined Nick as they took their seats in First Class.
"Because I need time to finish pulling this together. Plus it will do all of you some good to see your dad."
"But I want to be with you."
"I know, but we'll be together in two days. And we'll be married."
"Now that's what I'm talkin' about…married."
They settled in for the flight. Over the last year some interesting things had taken place. The catalyst being Nick's parents separating. Bob kept the house in the Keys, while Jane stayed in LA. Bob had reached out to the kids. They had finally gone into family counseling. Only recently had Jane started taking part by phone. While she still did not approve of Kassidy, enough time had passed for her to miss her family. She didn't know Nick and Kassidy were getting married. They couldn't risk her alerting the press.
Bob Carter met his family at the airport. His house was not that far from Nick and Kassidy's. Kassidy was staying in their home. Nick and his siblings were staying with Bob. Michael and Lee were arriving the next day to keep Kassidy sane until the wedding. Nick and Kassidy said goodbye at the airport and went their separate ways.
Kassidy got in her rental car and drove to the house. She puttered around doing some light cleaning. Her wedding dress was delivered in the afternoon. She spent the evening going over last minute details then relaxing in a bubble bath.
The next morning found her up early. She made a phone call to verify Michael and Lee's flight from Lexington. A quick call confirmed another guest had checked into the hotel. Kassidy grabbed her keys and headed out the door.
Soon she was standing in front of a hotel room. She took a deep breath and knocked.
"Who is it," called a voice from the other side of the door.
"Kassidy Rivers."
After a moment the door opened.
"I never expected to see you."
"I'm sure you didn't. May I come in Jane?"
"I suppose," replied Jane Carter, moving to allow her entrance.
"I am not going to leave. Bob invited me down to spend some time with the kids and no one including you is going to stop me."
"I'm not going to stop you. I was the one who asked Bob to invite you down here?"
"Why on earth," asked a puzzled Jane.
"Because you do need to spend time with your family."
Jane was stunned into silence. She motioned to the couch in the room and both women sat.
"Jane I'm going out on a limb here."
"So Nick doesn't know you're here."
"No, but that's not it. Jane I know you don't like me and you don't have to."
"Good."
"However, there are a few things you have to except."
"Such as?"
"Such as I love your son with everything in me. I am going to marry him and will be apart of his life for a very long time. Like try my lifetime. The other thing you have to except is I have not tried to get between you and Nick."
"The hell you didn't!"
"Jane you know that you drove the wedge between you two. You are in the process of rebuilding your relationship with your family and I'm glad."
"Really?"
"Really. I know it hurts all of them to have things the way they've been. You talking with them during therapy sessions has been good."
Jane was softening, but still cautious. "Kassidy why are you here?"
"I would like you to be there when Nick and I get married. Let me finish please. I know you don't like me and don't want us married, but it's going to happen whether you like it or not. Also I'm sure you really do want to be at your son's wedding."
"Yes."
"Good. Now I am asking you, as the other woman in Nick's life, please be there when the time comes. And please don't tell the press, because Jane if you do that again I think that will pretty much seal your fate with all your children. So what do you say? Will you come to Nick's wedding? And not tell the press?"
"When Nick gets married, I will be there," agreed a resigned Jane. "I won't tell the press."
"Great. Um…Jane?"
"Yes Kassidy?"
"The wedding is tomorrow."
"What," explode Jane.
"Jane hear me out on this."
"Start talking!"
"I needed Bob to get you down here so we could talk face to face. Also I didn't want to give you a large window of opportunity to do something bad. Call it my damage control plan."
Jane's shoulders dropped as she said, "I guess I deserve this. Where is it taking place?"
"Can't tell you that. No one knows but Nick and I."
"How will I get there?"
"Just be ready at noon and Tom will come get you. He will bring you a coin to take with you. You must have the coin to get into the wedding."
"Does everyone attending get a coin."
"Yes even the wedding party. And know this Jane, if any press shows up, we will not hesitate to call off the wedding. Now don't get any ideas. We will call off this wedding; go into hiding then elope. Either way we will be married. Everyone has been told this same thing and all the people working to put this together have signed confidentiality agreements. They talk they get sued."
"I see you are still very logical and hard nosed."
"I will protect what I need to."
"I remember."
"I better go."
"Are you going to tell Nick I'm going to be there?"
"Probably will at the rehearsal dinner tonight. You are welcome to come if you want."
"If you don't think it will be a problem."
"No problem. We will see you around 6:00. I'm glad you're coming Jane. I must get to the airport to pick up my friends."
"Sure," said Jane as she walked the younger woman to the door. "Kassidy thank you."
"Jane it's nothing, just the right thing."
Kassidy filled Michael and Lee in on the way to the house. They spent the afternoon catching up on each other's lives, while getting ready for the rehearsal dinner. It was taking place at Bob's house.
Nick was at the car before Kassidy could get out. He pulled the door open and kissed her.
"Hi," greeted Kassidy with a smile.
"I've missed you so much baby," mumbled Nick as he went in for another kiss.
"Gee Nick do we get the same greeting," teased Lee.
"Sure," joked Nick.
"Don't think so," countered Kassidy. "He's all mine."
"Fine. Don't share," pouted Michael.
As they walked in the house, Kass said, "Nick we need to talk for a minute. Where is some place private?"
"Come with me."
He led her down a hall and into his room. She knew it was his because his stuff was every where.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong. I just need to let you know about something I did."
"Kassidy," Nick started.
"Nick let me talk," interrupted Kassidy. "I talked to your mom today."
"What," he exclaimed.
"Wait! You guys have been talking in therapy. I know you wish she was here for the wedding, but didn’t want her to pull her old tricks."
"So you talked to her on the phone?"
"No. She's here. Let me finish. I talked with Bob. He helped me get her here. I went and talked to her this morning. She has promised not to contact any media and to behave."
"And you believed her," asked an incredulous Nick.
"Yes I do."
"You can too Nicky."
Both turned to see Jane Carter standing in the doorway.
"Sorry to interrupt, but no one answered the door. I came in and heard your voices. I didn't know where everyone was."
"Kassidy leave us," ordered Nick.
"Nick."
"Go!"
Kassidy headed outside to join everyone else.
"Where is the groom," asked Aaron.
"He's inside. It'll be a few minutes everyone."
Bob walked over and asked, "Jane here?"
"Yep."
"How are things?"
"Don't know. He told me to leave them alone."
"Everything ok," asked Brian.
"Nick and Jane are talking."
"Damn!"
"You said it," agreed Bob.
"Now we wait and see if I'm getting married tomorrow," said Kassidy
"You'll get married tomorrow," said Brian kissing her cheek.
"We shall see."
Kassidy wandered around to the front of the house. Bob and Brian told everyone to leave her alone. After a few minutes, Nick came around the house.
"I've been looking for you."
"Nick's its OK if you don't want to get married. I should have never meddled. I'm sorry. I just knew you wanted her here. I want you to be happy," said Kassidy as she started to cry.
"Baby come here," requested Nick.
He had sat down on the steps. Kassidy walked over to him. He pulled her into his lap.
"Now I was pissed at first. But I guess it was the only way to make it happen. Mom and I talked. I think we can trust her not to let the media know about the wedding. And hell yes I want to marry you. I've waited long enough."
Kassidy cried and said, "I love you so much Nick."
"I love you too. Come on, we have a rehearsal to get through."
