"You're being awful quiet," said Kevin as he sat down beside Kassidy as she stared out the bus window.
"Oh hey," replied Kassidy.
"What's going on inside there," he asked pointing to her head.
"I'm just thinking about going home."
"And?"
"And...this had been an amazing experience. Thanks for letting us do this."
"It was no big deal" he replied.
"Kevin you guys could have sequestered us away from you. You welcomed us. Heck you let us stay on your bus."
"Kassidy you guys fit in. You didn't freak. You treated us like normal people. We don't get that often from people outside our little circle."
"I've seen you in the morning. You look very normal to me with your bed head," laughed Kassidy.
"I've seen your bed head too. And on that note I'm heading back for some sleep. It's takes a lot to get and keep the bed head look," joked Kevin.
He kissed Kassidy's cheek and headed to his bunk. Kassidy continued looking out the window. She heard the fridge open behind her. She turned to see Nick getting a bottle of water.
"Hey you. Can't sleep?"
"Nope, but its ok I slept really good the last two nights," answered Nick.
"You did? Even stuck with me," asked Kassidy.
Nick mumbled and blushed.
"What?"
"I said it was because you were there."
"Oh," said a stunned Kassidy. She looked at him for a minute then continued, "I slept really good too. This is our last night to sleep together. We might as well get some rest."
He smiled as he allowed her to lead him back to the bunks. He climbed in his and helped her up into it. It was tight but they snuggled close together and were out in five minutes.
The bus arrived in St. Louis and everyone moved from the bus to the rooms. Grace and AJ stayed in his room. Kassidy trusted both of them to behave just like they always had. Nick pulled Kassidy down the hall to his room and they slept peacefully.
Grace woke in AJ's arms. She smiled but it quickly became a frown. This was the last day with him and everyone else. Kassidy flew out first thing in the morning for Nashville and Grace was going back to her routine life that evening. She was so lost in thought that she didn't realize AJ was awake until he spoke.
"Pooh why are you frowning?"
"This is the last day."
"Shhh. We won't think about it. What time are your parents getting here?"
"Around 5:00 at the arena."
"OK. What do you want to do this morning?"
"I don't know."
"This is your time Pooh."
"I want to hang out with you and Kassidy."
"Done. Let's go wake her and Nicky up."
"OK."
They got up, dressed and went in search of their two friends. They called down to the front desk and gotten Nick's room number. They woke up their friends and ordered room service. The mood was subdued. They all knew there were merely hours remaining of their time together. AJ looked around
Nick's room. He hadn't set up his video games. AJ realized his friend hadn't set them up in a few days. Kassidy really was having an affect on the guy.
"Grace," exclaimed her mother when she walked into the Green Room that afternoon.
"Mom," greeted Grace, running over to hug her parents. "Hi Dad."
"Hi sweetie. Did you have a good time," asked her father.
"I had a great time. Come meet everyone."
Grace led her parents around the room introducing them to everyone. When they met AJ, he told them he looked out for Grace and made sure she was OK. Her mother asked if she had any tattoos. Grace said no with just the right amount of indignation so that her mother wouldn't ask about piercings. Her parents watched their daughter interacting with everyone from BSB to the crew. She was bubbly and happy, not the quiet, reserved girl they were use to at home. They liked the change. Grace suppressed a giggle when she saw the looks on her parents' faces when everyone gathered for prayer and chant time before the show.
She led the way to the stage. Her parents had not expected to be so close. She got a kick out watching her parents "groove" to the music. During perfect fan, AJ hopped off the stage and brought Grace and her mother up. Grace watched her mom get misty during the song.
At the beginning of the first encore Kevin and Brian collected Grace and Kassidy. They introduced them to the crowd. They stayed and goofed with the guys during the introduction of the band and dancers. At the end of the first encore, they expected to go back to their seats, instead they found themselves pulled under the stage. Nick and AJ took their hands and led them back out for the final encore. Both, Kassidy and Grace were puzzled when microphones were placed in their hands. Kevin explained to the audience
that Kassidy and Grace could both sing and the fellas had decided it was time for them share their talent. The look on the two women's faces was truly priceless. Brian told them they would never make it off the stage unless they sang. Kassidy and Grace exchanged glances then Kassidy informed everyone if the two of them tanked it was BSB's fault. The song started again and they sang. Even they had to admit they didn't do badly. The guys took over again, but they continued to sing on the chorus. When the guys broke it down at the end, they were surprised that Kassidy and Grace each added a harmony. As the center of the stage lowered they waved to the crowd with the rest of the guys. Once under the stage they were pulled into a group hug. Suddenly they were out from under the stage and heading backstage with the guys. Kassidy went with Howie and Grace with Brian. Grace was relieved to see her parents already in the back.
"Honey you were wonderful!"
"Thanks dad."
"You were good," agreed her mother. "You all were."
"Thank you," replied Brian. "Let us get back to the hotel for the farewell party."
James suggested Kassidy, Grace and her parents go on back to the hotel in the Johnson's car. Once at the hotel, Kassidy kept her parent busy while Grace went upstairs and got her bags from AJ's room. Soon everyone else arrived and the party began. The mood was again subdued. Everyone talked and
munched on the deli trays set out. Andre, the bands official photographer gathered everyone for a group picture. Grace and Kassidy again thanked everyone for being so nice and welcoming to them. Kevin then took over.
"It's been great having you guys with us. We were nervous when Denise first told us we would have people joining us for 2 weeks. You guys have been just great. We are going to miss you. Grace we also wanted to give you something."
Brian interrupted, "And we thought and thought about what to get you."
"And we came up with this," finished AJ moving to reveal a 2-track tape machine.
Grace was stunned, but found her voice. "Guys I can't accept it. It's too much, but thank you so much."
"No you have to take it," started Nick. "We can't take it back."
Howie said, "Grace honestly we want you to have it. It would make us very happy."
Grace looked at her parents and they nodded. She launched herself at the nearest Boy, which happened to Howie.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This means so much to me."
Next she hugged Kevin, then Brian, who said, "Remember you will have to send me demos of the music you're writing."
"Deal."
Grace moved on to hug Nick and AJ. Grace's mother noticed that her daughter seemed to hug AJ a bit longer than the others and quizzed Kassidy.
"Tell me about AJ and my daughter."
"I think they became really good friends."
"How old is he again?"
"He's 22. Now don't let his appearance and stage demeanor throw you. In reality he is a big softy. He was nothing but a gentleman with your daughter. He loves to talk and she's a great listener."
"I see. Good."
Soon it was time for Grace to leave. They were driving back to Springfield that night. AJ made sure he had her phone number and everything. Kassidy walked them out to the car. Grace's parents thanked her for taking care of their daughter, then got in the car, giving the friends a chance to say goodbye.
"So I will see you online tomorrow night," said Kassidy.
"Yeah. I'm sorry I can't go with you to the airport in the morning."
"It's OK. I think I can manage. Although you are the wise one," joked Kassidy.
"I'm glad we finally got to meet."
"Me too. Have fun at school on Monday."
"Yeah. Whoopee," chuckled Grace.
"Honey we need to go," said her father then put his window back up.
"Well let's not get mushy here. I will talk to you tomorrow night," said Kassidy, hugging the girl.
"Yeah talk to you tomorrow night."
Grace climbed in the car and Kassidy watched until it was out of sight.
She turned to walk back into the hotel.
"That is her. I told you it was them," said a girl running up to Kassidy.
"Hello," said Kassidy.
"You were on stage with BSB tonight."
"Yep. You were there I take it."
"Yeah. You are SO lucky. You've been hanging out with them for two weeks."
"I won't lie, it's been fun."
"So what are they like," asked another girl in the group of 15 that now surrounded Kassidy.
"They really are like everyone else."
"So have you met any of the girlfriends?"
"I've met a lot of people. I did meet Brian and Kevin's fiancées."
"What about the other guys? Nick," asked another girl.
"I won't talk about their personal lives. I did mention Kristen and Leighanne, because it is public knowledge that Kevin and Brian are engaged. Other than that I won't discuss it."
"Well that's no fair and you're being a bitch if you don't tell us."
"And that behavior right there is why I won't discuss them. You all have a great night."
Kassidy had been inching her way to the door of the hotel during the entire conversation. She ducked in quickly and hotel security kept the girls from getting inside. She headed back to the banquet room to find the party breaking up. Kevin walked over and threw his arm around her shoulder.
"Kassidy we wanted to give you something too, but had no idea what to get."
"That's fine Kevin. I wasn't expecting anything. The time with you guys was present enough."
"I'm going up to bed. Wake me up in the morning, so I can say goodbye."
"OK. Night Kevin and thanks again," said Kassidy, standing on her tiptoes to hug him.
"Sure. Come back anytime. Hey Nick already headed up."
"He did?"
"I guess he figured he would let us have our time with you. After all, he is spending the whole night with you."
"What? How did you," asked an alarmed Kassidy.
"Dennis and AJ were never good at keeping something like you two sleeping together a secret."
"But Kevin we never."
Kevin interrupted, "I know. I know you well enough to know you don't do things like that and Nicky is too shy to really try something with a woman."
"Keep an eye on him for me. He's a great person. I wish he would realize it."
"We all do," said Kevin. "Night. See you in the morning."
He disappeared out of the room and others wandered out too. Brian, Leighanne and Howie all said good night. Finally, AJ wandered over. Kassidy said good night to everyone in the room and walked out with AJ.
"I think I'll call Grace tomorrow," stated AJ.
"Good."
"Kassidy you guys are a blast."
"Thanks Bone. You are too."
"You know we are coming to Nashville."
"You are? I haven't heard anything yet."
"Well that's cause nobody knows. We are going to the Bahamas to write then coming to Nashville to do some of the recording. Shhh!"
"I won't tell anyone. Well can I tell Grace?"
"You won't have to, because I'm telling her tomorrow. What do you think the odds are of her parents letting her come visit you when schools out?"
"I'm not sure, but I can work on it. When are you guys going to be in town?"
"June sometime, I will call you and let you know. Or Nicky will."
"Cool. Speaking of Nicky, we've reached my room for the evening."
"Yep. Stay cool Kassidy."
"You too AJ. Will I see you in the morning?"
"Most definitely."
They hugged and AJ trotted down the hall. Kassidy used her room key. Inside she found Nick sprawled out on the bed. He had dosed off waiting for her. She watched him sleep for a moment. Finally, she bent down and gently whispered in his ear.
"Nick."
"Hmmm," sighed Nick as he turned over to see her leaning over him. He reached up and pulled her to him. "I'm going to miss you."
"I'm going to miss you too."
Kassidy allowed him to pull her down on top of him. He just held her and they both drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, AJ woke them up. Kassidy showered and packed. Nick and AJ watched her get ready to leave.
"Stop it," said Kassidy.
"What," asked AJ.
"Stop it with the puppy dog faces. It's hard enough to leave without you two looking so pitiful."
"Sorry, but we really miss Grace," said Nick, suppressing a grin.
"I know you do, but go pout somewhere else. You aren't going to miss me and I don't want to see those looks."
"Awww Kassi we are going to miss you too," said AJ.
"Thanks Bone. When did you started calling me Kassi?"
"Hell Michael called you Kassi."
"Yes, but she's my best friend."
"So now we aren't your friend?"
"No! You're a Backstreet Boy. Ewwww!"
"Very funny."
She rolled her eyes as she sighed, "Fine call me Kassi. Be back in a minute, promised Kevin a goodbye."
Kassidy knocked on Kevin's door. He answered in his boxers. Kassidy told him that he really had to stop doing things like this, because she was not responsible for her actions. He laughed and pulled her into a hug. As a joke she grabbed his butt. He yelped and she laughed. They said their good-byes and he went back to bed.
AJ left Nick and Kassidy alone to say goodbye in private.
"Nick I'm going to miss you. You are truly special. If you ever need me, I'm there. You ever need a place to hideout my door is open."
"Same goes for you," whispered Nick.
"Thanks. Now hug me before I cry or something."
Nick smiled and hugged her. Kassidy wrapped her arms around his neck and felt her feet leave the ground. After a minute he sat her down gently.
"Nick be happy," she said and gently kissed his lips. "Bye."
"Bye."
Kassidy walked out of the room with her bags. AJ took them and walked her to the lobby. She turned in the room key. AJ put her stuff in a waiting cab. They hugged then she was gone.
Chapter 14
AngelLight: Hey...How are you?
"Why are you laughing?"
"Kassidy just order me to get off the computer and talk to you."
"Yeah get off the computer and talk to me woman!"
"Woman?"
"That's what you are. Anyway, tonight Nick tripped over his big feet going up the riser. It was so funny."
"Shut up AJ!"
"Aww Nicky's pouting."
"Tell him to stop pouting."
"Grace says stop pouting."
"Tell her I said hi."
"Tell him I said hi."
"She says hi. Now go somewhere so I can talk to her."
"Bone where do you want me to go? We're on a bus."
"I don't care. Just...Just...Just go somewhere."
"OK. Later Grace."
"Later Nick."
"Too late he's gone."
"Oh OK."
"So how was school today," asked AJ.
"Weird. I have several girls who want to meet you guys."
"Were they hounding you?"
"Not too bad. So what did you do today?"
"Got up. Breakfast. Interviews. Sound Check. Show. Bus. And I did laugh my ass off at Nick when he busted his on stage."
"Leave him alone. You know what they say about karma," warned Grace.
"True. Plus Angie is hooking up with us in two days."
"Geez that's punishment right there."
"You said it. So what are you planning for summer?"
"I don't know."
"Do you think you can convince your parents to let you visit Kassidy for the month of June?"
"I don't know. Why?"
"Cause the fellas and I will be there recording the album."
"Really? Cool! But I don't know. I would have to convince my parents and I don't even know if Kassidy would want me to stay with her."
"She does. I've already talked to her. She cool."
"Well June is still a few months off. We will have to wait and see."
"OK. Too bad you guys aren't still with us. Nicky's birthday is coming up soon. It would have been a blast with you guys there."
"That's sweet of you to say. Actually, Kassidy's birthday is coming up soon, too."
"Really? When?"
"On the 17th of February."
"I guess we need to get her something."
"I'm still trying to think of something to give her."
"Hey you're sure I'm not going to get you in trouble with your mom for calling so late?"
"No it's fine."
"Good. So can I call you from time to time?"
"Sure. I can't believe you want to. I figured when we left, you guys wouldn't keep in touch."
"Not keep in touch with my Pooh? It would never happen."
"AJ you are so silly."
"No I'm crazy."
"Well that too," agreed Grace.
"And what else."
"Your funny and sweet."
"What? No sexy? No too hot to handle," huffed AJ.
"That's a given."
"Oh is it now."
"Oh hush. I'm sorry but mom just pulled in the garage from work. I need to talk with her."
"I can take a hint."
"AJ!"
"No Pooh it's OK. I will talk to you again soon. Sweet dreams."
"You too AJ. Night."
"Night."
AJ hung up and dropped his cell phone beside him on the couch. Nick wandered back up.
"Done talking to Grace?"
"Yeah. She a great girl."
"Yeah she is. Um...did she mention Kassidy."
"Yes she did. As a matter of fact, she was online with Kassidy when I called. Kassidy told her to get to off the computer and talk to me. Gotta love that woman."
"Yeah."
"Could it be our Nicky has a crush?"
"NO! She's just cool," exclaimed Nick.
"That she is. So why don't you call her?"
"Because she's probably in bed."
"So," asked AJ
"So I don't want to bother her."
"OK. Suit yourself."
AJ watched Nick wander back to his bunk again. He fished around in his billfold for a minute before finding Kassidy's business card. He dialed her home number on the back of the card and waited for her to pick up.
"Hello."
"Kassi!"
"Hey Bone."
"How'd ya know it was me?"
"Couldn't be the voice."
"Alright smartass."
"Yep. So how are you?"
"I'm good. I talked to Grace about visiting you in June."
"What did she say?"
"She didn't think her parents would let her, but we would have to wait and see."
"That's what I thought she would say. So what's up with you?"
"Nada. How about you?"
"Catching up on work."
"Cool."
"AJ why did you call?"
"Nick wanted to talk to you but was too chicken."
"And you just took it upon yourself to call me."
"Pretty much. Now talk to Nicky."
AJ dropped his cell on Nick and said he owed him one call on his phone.
"Hello?"
"Hi Nick."
"Kassidy?"
"The one and only. How are you?"
"I'm OK. Wait...did you call AJ?"
"Nope. He called me for you."
"I'm gonna kill him!"
"Don't do it until the tours over, less hassle."
"OK. How are you?"
"Tired but good. Catching up on work. What are you up to?"
"Touring."
"So you doing OK?"
"Yeah. Angie will be here in two days."
"OK."
"I know you don't like her," stated Nick.
"How I feel doesn't matter. It's how you feel and you don't sound excited."
"I'm just tired."
"I understand. So what else is going on?"
"Um...I fell on my butt tonight."
"OH No! Are you OK?"
"Yeah. AJ just about fell off the riser laughing at me."
"Well sometime he will do the same thing," said Kassidy.
"I know. I guess I better go."
"All right. I'm glad AJ called for you."
"Yeah."
"You're cute when you blush."
"How do you know I'm blushing?"
"I can hear it in your voice. Nick you can call me anytime. Just do me a favor."
"What?"
"Don't let Angie catch you. I don't want to cause anymore trouble between you."
"All right. You know you can call me too."
"Except I don't want to get you in trouble with Angie."
"Oh yeah. Well I'm going."
"Night Nick."
"Night Kassi."
Kassidy hung up the phone. She felt so helpless. AJ wanted Grace to be in Nashville so they could hang out. However, Kassidy wasn't sure they would win that battle with Grace's parents. Then there was Nick. Dear, sweet Nick with the girlfriend from hell. Sighing Kassidy got out of bed. She
decided if she was going to be awake then she might as well get some work done.
Chapter 15
"Hi Grace," greeted Kassidy.
"Hi!"
"How was the flight? Baggage is this way."
"It was fine."
"Here call your parents," directed Kassidy, handing her cell phone to Grace.
Grace called both of her parents. They collected her baggage and were soon at Kassidy's condo.
Grace was amused when she walked in the front door. There was a poem painted on the wall of the entrance. She read...
"The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer. Interesting."
Kassidy ordered, "well if you going to start reading it you have to finish it. It is the introduction to my place."
Grace laughed and continued...
It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
It doesn't interest me how old you are.
It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon.
I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own,
It doesn't interest me if the story you are telling me is true.
I want to know if you can be faithful and therefore be trustworthy.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine,
It doesn't matter who you are, or how you came to be here.
It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.
I want to know if you can be alone with yourself,
"Good job," said Kassidy, when Grace finished reading it. "Most people stop reciting it about half way and I have to finish."
"Gee I wonder why," teased Grace.
"So here we have the entrance. There's the living room and dinning room. Through here is the kitchen and the den. Let's go upstairs. Your bedroom for the duration is the first one," said Kassidy leading Grace up the steps.
"The bathroom’s across the hall then my bedroom is in the back with my bathroom. Feel free to use the Computer in your room. It normally doubles as my office. I will keep my Laptop set up in my room. I have DSL so we can both be online and still get calls. Yes I am the technology Queen! Kidding. I will leave you to get settled. Pizza OK?"
"Sure."
Grace looked around the room after Kassidy headed back downstairs. Kassidy had told her once this was the antique bedroom suit she had growing up with. A PC, scanner and printer sat on a desk in one corner of the room, while the dresser was in another corner. On the dresser was a TV, VCR, and boom box. The comforter on the bed was black. Kassidy had hung several pictures of keyboards around the room. The walls were white. An overstuffed wingback chair sat in the final corner of the room. It was black with black and white stripped pillows, in keeping with the motif of the room.
After putting her clothes away, Grace carried her things across to the bathroom. She stopped short when she turned on the light. On the main wall of the bathroom a mural was painted. Cute fairies sat on a crescent moon and clouds, while others flew around a midnight sky. Grace looked up to see a fairy in the top left corner. It looked like it was whispering something. Words twisted across the wall. Grace read the words, recognizing it as one
of Kassidy's poems...
She followed the words to another fairy in the bottom left corner with its hand cupped to its ear like it was listening to the poem. Grace chuckled; remembering Kassidy had told her, a friend had named them the poop fairies, because they were in the bathroom. Grace put her stuff away and headed
downstairs as the doorbell rang.
Over dinner they talked. The Backstreet Boys were getting into town the following day. Apparently Nick was bringing Angie with him. Nick had only called Kassidy that one time and even then AJ had actually been the one to call. Kassidy kept tabs on him through AJ and Kevin. Kevin and Kassidy had become very good friends. Kevin enjoyed talking business with Kassidy. She gave him good insight.
AJ had stayed in contact with Grace. However, he had also gotten back with his girlfriend, Melody. Grace had been bummed for a few weeks, but adjusted. It helped that AJ still called her on a regular basis. It's
like she had told Kassidy, they were friends and that was really all she had hoped for from someone famous like AJ McLean.
Of course, Kassidy knew it had really hurt Grace to know AJ and his ex had gotten back together. She had questioned whether it was a good idea for Grace to come see him, but as Grace pointed out she wasn't just coming to see AJ. She wanted to see everyone including Kassidy. Brian had stayed in touch with Grace. She had been sending him her some of her music. He was giving her great feedback and encouragement. Kassidy and Grace agreed that never in their wildest dreams, did either of them think they would have
stayed in contact with these people. It was great but still weird.
Early the next morning, the phone awakened Kassidy.
"Hello."
"Hey sunshine!"
"AJ have you been to bed yet?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"Because you are calling me at 7:30 in the morning. I didn't think you got up this early without brute force."
"True but it's 8:30."
"Not here...Central time."
"Oops. So did my Pooh make it there safely last night?"
"Yes she did. Should of known you wouldn't be calling me a this time on a Saturday morning. No! You're calling to wake me up, because you want to talk to your Pooh!"
"I love you Kassidy."
"I love you to AJ. Hang on."
Kassidy climbed out of bed and walked into the guest bedroom. She shook Grace awake and handed her the phone, before going back to bed.
"Hello?"
"Good morning to my Pooh. How are you," said AJ in a singsong voice.
"Too much caffeine AJ?"
"Maybe. Why do you ask?"
"No reason."
"So you're not coming to meet us at the airport?"
"No one told us when you're getting in."
"We're in."
"You are?"
"Did I stutter?"
"Not this time."
"Hey now."
"Love you."
"You too. So meet us at the hotel. Kassidy knows where we're staying."
"She went back to sleep."
"Wake her ass up. We want to see you guys."
"We?"
"Tell Grace you guys want to see her and Kassidy."
"We want to see you guys," chorused the others.
"Fine. I'll get Kassidy up and we will be there soon."
"Good. Later Pooh."
Grace hung up and walked into Kassidy's room carrying the phone. Her friends decorating style once again stopped her in her tracks. The walls were the palest shade of blue. An iron canopy style bed sat in the corner of the room. The dresser sat against one wall and a vanity another. The third wall was taken up by an entertainment center. The fourth had the closet and the door to Kassidy's bathroom. Kassidy's laptop was sitting on one of her nightstands. Her bedspread was white. The thing that got Grace's attention was the tree painted in the corner behind Kassidy's bed. It's branches come out onto the ceiling. The sheer draping material wrapped around the canopy frame of the bed looked like it had been tied to one of the branches. A light behind the bed looked like it was attached to the tree too. In one of the other corners was a sitting area. It was positioned to enable TV viewing.
"I take it they are on their way."
"Actually they are already here."
"Argh. They want us to meet them somewhere."
"Their hotel, AJ said you know where they're staying."
"Yep. Get ready. We can leave in...30 minutes?"
"Sounds good to me."
Grace walked out of the room and soon Kassidy heard the shower running.
She was glad she had taken a shower the previous night. She got up and threw on some comfortable clothes. Putting her hair up in a clip, she put on a little makeup. She went downstairs to wait for Grace.
Forty-five minutes later they walked into the hotel most celebrities stayed in. It was nice and had good security. Kassidy went to the desk and asked if Marcus, AJ's bodyguard, had checked in yet. Grace didn't know to get the guys' aliases for checking in and Kassidy hadn't thought to ask AJ or Kevin the last time they had talked. So she gave Marcus' name a shot. The front desk clerks exchanged looks, but said there was no one registered under the name. Kassidy thanked them and walked with Grace over to a couch and
sat down. One of the clerks said they would not be allowed to stay. Kassidy explained that they were waiting for their friends who were on their way from the airport. The clerk goofed when she said none of their guest would be expecting them. Kassidy politely explained they would leave immediately if their friends didn't recognize them. The clerk was calling security when the entire entourage strolled in.
"Kassidy! Grace," exclaimed AJ jogging over to hug them.
"Hey Bone," replied Kassidy, hugging him and smiling at the stunned clerk over his shoulder.
"Pooh hug me."
"Yes sir," laughed Grace, stepping into his hug.
"AJ? Oh there you are."
"Hey baby. Come meet our friends."
Kassidy and Grace watched a very pretty, brunette walk their way. Her smile was warm and friendly.
"Melody this is Grace and Kassidy."
"Hi."
"Hi Melody. Nice to meet you," greeted Kassidy shaking her hand.
"Hi," said Grace also shaking her hand.
"Hi. You must be Grace. AJ always calls you Pooh. He has a way of giving special people nicknames."
"So I don't rate a nickname," said Kassidy in a stern voice, but the amusement never left her eyes.
"Well you see. I um...I," stumbled AJ.
"You guys are here."
"Yes we are Richardson. I get dragged out of the bed at the crack of dawn to meet you guys and you aren't even here yet," whined Kassidy.
"Oh grumpy you know you're happy to see us," he replied as he pulled her into a hug.
"Oh God! Do we have to put up with them again?"
Neither Kassidy nor Grace needed to see the person asking the question to know it was Angie.
"Ang baby don't start."
"Shut up Nick. Can we just go to our room?"
"We need our room key," he replied.
"Come on Angie, let's go join everyone else," suggested Leighanne, who walked in behind them with Brian.
"Fine, but I'm not talking to them."
"Ya promise," whispered Kassidy causing Kevin to laugh.
"Hi Kassidy, Grace. It's good to see you guys again," greeted Leighanne.
"Good to see you too Leighanne. How are the wedding plans coming," asked Kassidy.
"They're going pretty good."
"Good."
Brian hugged them both and asked, "Written anymore Grace?"
"I have a couple of things I'm working on."
"Maybe we can get together and you can show me."
"OK," agreed Grace.
"Hey Brian why haven't you ever offered to help me with writing?"
"Because I didn't think you wanted my help Angel," he replied, making a point of using her stage name.
"Hi guys."
"Hey Howie. Bringing up the rear I see," said Kassidy, hugging him. She was grateful for the interruption to the current conversation.
Howie hugged Grace saying, "Chica you are getting prettier every time I see you. You're now a high school graduate too. Contgrats!"
"Thanks Howie."
"Oh yeah. Thanks for the birthday cards. Did a little birdie named Grace tell you my birthday was in February," inquired Kassidy.
"Most definitely," stated AJ.
"Well I guess that's OK."
"So you're 31 now right," asked Brian.
"Yep."
"God your old."
"Not really Angel. I'm just older. Of course to a mere child like yourself, I must seem old."
"And on that note lets get checked in. We don't have James to take care of this for us," said Kevin.
As they walked over to the desk, Nick caught Kassidy's eye behind Angie's back and mouthed hi. Kassidy smiled. Grace and AJ exchanged looks. Both thinking everybody buckle up and get ready for the ride.
SavingGrace: I'm OK. How are you?
AngelLight: I'm good. Going through BSB withdrawal. LOL
SavingGrace: Me too! LOL
AngelLight: How was school?
SavingGrace: Strange. Everyone was quizzing me about the guys. They want me to introduce them.
AngelLight: Figures. Heard from any of the guys.
SavingGrace: No. Why?
AngelLight: No reason.
SavingGrace: OK
AngelLight: I miss them and that's so silly. So new topic...
SavingGrace: LOL. I wish AJ had kissed me goodbye.
AngelLight: Oh yeah with your parents standing there. Speaking of parents...Is the belly button still undiscovered?
SavingGrace: Yeah.
AngelLight: So how did AJ kiss? hmmm???
SavingGrace: Very nice. ;-)
AngelLight: No doubt.
SavingGrace: Hang on. Phone. brb
AngelLight: K
SavingGrace: OMG!!!! It's AJ!!!!!!
AngelLight: Cool
SavingGrace: Is that why you asked if I had heard from any of the guys?
AngelLight: He said he was going to call you.
SavingGrace: I can't believe you didn't tell me.
AngelLight: And ruin the surprise? Nope
SavingGrace: He says hi
AngelLight: Hi Bone...go talk to him and I will talk to you tomorrow.
SavingGrace: You don't mind?
AngelLight: Get your butt off the computer and go talk to that boy!
SavingGrace: LOL...I'm going. Bye
AngelLight: Bye
I want to know what you ache for,
And if you dare dream of meeting your heart's longing.
I want to know if you will risk looking the fool for love,
For your dreams,
For the adventure of being alive.
I want to know if you have touched the center of your sorrow,
If you have been opened up by life's betrayals
Or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain.
If you can dance with wildness
And let ecstasy fill you from the tips of your fingers and toes
Without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic,
Or to remember the limitations of being human.
I want to know if you can betray another to be true to yourself;
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it's not a pretty day,
And if you can source your life from God's presence.
And stand on the edge of a lake and shout to the
silver light of a full moon, "Yes!"
It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how
much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up after a night of grief and despair,
Weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done for the children.
I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me
And not shrink back.
I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.
And if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.I said someone come take this need away
He said he'd ease the pain but the need would have to stay
His eyes held me spellbound in a trance
And into his arms I danced.
We danced around the moon that night
Leaving this world behind felt so right
Now I see for there to be love
There has to be need
And restless hearts will always need.
