DALTON, Carl H. 1910 - 1994
Carl H. Dalton, 84, Ault, died Saturday, December 3, at his home, after a brief
illness. He was born November 19, 1910, in Calhoun, to Lee and Bertha (Sell)
Dalton. He attended one room county schools and schools in Calhoun. He came to
Weld County in 1933. On January 18, 1936, he married Ruth E. Klussman in
Littleton. After their marriage, he and his wife moved to Iowa where they
farmed. They moved to Galeton in 1940 and farmed, and in 1951 they moved to
Plymouth County, Iowa, farming there until returning to Weld County in January
1960. He and his wife farmed for themselves until 1970 when he became the
farm manager for Harold Law. He retired in 1987 and they moved to the Villa in
Ault where he has lived since. His wife died September 13, 1994. Mr. Dalton
served on the Galeton Community Volunteer Fire Department for eight years and
served as the fire chief from 1961-64. He was a builder and charter member of
the Galeton Baptist Church where he served as a trustee for 30 years. Survivors
are five daughters, Geraldine Ann Kalas of Merrill, Iowa, Beverly Jean Ruby,
Blakesburg, Iowa, Carla Sue Gelsick, Greeley, Vicki L. Clark, Ossco, Wis., and
Ronda Kay Sinner of Kersey; three sons, Edward L., Wastha, Iowa, Fred A., Eaton,
and Tom W. of Greeley; four sisters, Laura Mae Barrows, Doris Evans, Pauline
Woods and Margie Sheek all of Clinton; two brothers, Bill of Kingsley, Iowa, and
Leroy of Clinton; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-
grandchildren. A sister, Gerry Witherspoon, two brothers, Emmett and Gene, three
grandchildren and one great-grandson are deceased. Services were at 2 p.m.
Tuesday, December 6, at the Adamson Memorial Chapel. Burial was at Sunset
Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to the Carl H. Dalton Memorial
Fund or Hospice of Northern Colorado Inc., in care of Adamson Mortuary.
