Union Army vs. Confederate Army: A Family Affair

This is one of the most remarkable stories I've ever heard. A brief overview is a father, Joseph Lidiak, and son, John Lidiak, fought in the Civil War, however, the son fought for the Union Army and the father fought for the Confederate Army. The son, being influenced by friends, decided to join the Union Army. His father, later on, decided to join the Confederate Army. When they both arrived back from fighting in the war, they lived together in harmony, and they are buried next to each other in Hostyn Cemetery. The United States decided to commemorate the "odd" situation by placing two cannons behind Hostyn Catholic Church with the son's cannon facing southwest and the father's cannon facing southeast.
