Agnes Konvicka

Agnes Spacek was born 25 May 1847 in Tiche, Moravia, Austria. She married Mikolas Konvicka, born 30 December 1842, and they had three children in Moravia: Veronica, Mar and Agneska. They came to America entering the port of New York 24 November 1882. They probably traveled by train to Williamsburg, Lavaca County, south of Hallettsville. Sometime during the year of 1885 they journeyed to Dubina to attend a meeting. Agnes became ill there, died and was buried along side the road one mile south of the church. Three days later Mikolas returned to Williamsburg and informed his daughters of their mother’s death.

Veronica married John Raska 8 August 1887, Mary married Herman A. Schultz 8 September 1891 and Agneska married Ferdinand Hanzlik 17 January 1888.

Mikolas married Fanny Najver 9 November 1885 at Yellow Bank, now Koerth, Lavaca County. They had four children: Joseph, Frank, Emil and Annie who married Julius Pustejovsky.

Mikolas died 23 June 1905 and is buried in the Sweet Home Catholic Cemetery, Lavaca County, Texas.

Dominik Hanzlik, born 4 August 1837, Frantiska Sramek, his wife, born 3 October 1837 in Dirschkowitz, Germany, and their son, Ferdinand, born 18 April 1865, emigrated to America in 1875 landing at Galveston 13 May. They journeyed by wagon to Dubina and, later, bought land one mile east of Breslau, Lavaca County, Texas. They were farmers.

Ferdinand Hanzlik married Agneska Konvicka 17 January 1888 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville by Rev. John Anthony Forrest. They first farmed on the Dominik Hanzlik farm near Breslau. They then bought a 166-acre farm at Witting, Lavaca County, 30 May 1906 where they resided the rest of their lives.

Ferdinand and Agneska had 13 children: Frank 1888-1954, Frances 1890-1954, Albina 189-1960, Philomena 1892-1957, Antonia 1895-1967, Joseph 1895-1981, John 1897-1901, Peter 1899-1953, Agnes 1901-1968, Emil 1902-1968, Emily 1905-1986, Mary 1907-1991 and Louise born 1911.

Frank Hanslik married Mary Heinrich. Herman H. Hanslik of Hallettsville is their son.
