Last Rites Monday for Jim Cernosek

Funeral services for Jim Cernosek, 56, were held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Koenig Funeral Home with continued services at the Hostyn Catholic church, the Rev. Francis Smerke officiating. Burial was in the Ammannsville Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Cernosek died in his sleep during Thursday night. He was at home alone at the time and was found dead the next morning. Mrs. Cernosek was spending the Thanksgiving holidays with a daughter.

A lifetime resident of this area, he was born on Aug. 14, 1906, so on Anton and Marie Matej Cernosek. He was united in marriage with Daisy Griffith at Columbus on Feb. 21, 1928. For the past several years he operated the Post Oak Inn on the Holman road and was also in the gravel hauling business with a son.

Surviving are his wife and aged other, both of La Grange: three daughters, Mrs. John Kana and Mrs. Welson Tiedt of Houston and Mrs. Kenneth Stevenson of San Marcos: three sons, Richard and Frank (Jack) of La Grange and Edwin Cernosek of Houston: two sisters, Mrs. George Barta Sr. of Ammannsville and Mrs. Felix Schultz Sr. of La Grange one brother, Stanley Cernosek of Orchard; and nine grandchildren.

A rosary was recited Saturday night by the Holy Name Society and K. or C.’s and a parish rosary was recited Sunday night.
