This tree in Aron's front yard suffered a lightning strike as a powerful thunderstorm moved across South-Central Texas in June/2000. Although this is a relatively minor strike compared to some, it did fry thousands of dollars worth of his neighbor's electronics (TV's, stereos, etc.). I believe Aron's household also lost several telephones as well as a modem or two?

This is rather remarkable, but I (Justin) happened to take a snapshot of the same (dissipating) storm as it was nailing north Houston where Aron lives. The picture was taken in a northerly direction, and shows the southwesterly flank of the supercell which had already past my location. Pretty cool. Here is the photo:
