Building an Experimental Airplane!
  • Yes, it's true! Some of us are just a little crazy, and have the desire to build our own
    flying machine!!

  • The airplane we've chosen is an all composite, two seater, canard type aircraft called the "Dragonfly."  This airplane is a plans or kit built aircraft,  originally introduced by "Viking Aircraft, now owned by "Slipstream Industries."

More to come soon so check often!

"Canard" means that it has  a horizontal wing on the front end, that more or less takes the place of the "conventional" horizontal tail found on most airplanes.    Many of the Dragonflies are powered by modified VW engines, though there are a few Continental and Subaru engines out there. We are planning to put a Corvair engine in ours!

"Composite" means that it is constructed primarily from fiberglass cloth and epoxy. These materials give the aircraft the benefit of an extremely strong, lightweight package, with little or no worry of the corrosion problems of more "conventional" airplanes.
