Tools: hacksaw, 2" holesaw, dremel, screwdriver,
wrenches, soldering iron, pliers,
wire strippers, marker.
Materials: 2 1/16" electrical guages, ABS plastic
piece, scotchlock connectors, electrical tape,
18ga wire, solder
Gauges are mandatory, you need some way to
monitor the engine after adding big power
enhancing parts. I chose boost/vacuum,
oil pressure, and water temp. An EGT guage would
be a good idea too.
The guage panel was made from a piece of ABS
plastic I cut from an office paper tray. Any piece
of flat, flexible plastic you find could be
used.
Here we have the finished product. I
like it in the center console, more understated. the riceboys
won't find any pods here ;-) It goes
where the original radio went, I just moved the radio down to an
area that used to just be a cubbyhole (or
optional OEM CD player). The guage lighting is tapped
into the instrument cluster dimmer switch
so everything lights up evenly.
