Merry Christmas

2015

Merry Christmas from the Savage Family,

Things are going well down here in San Antonio. David and I keep busy with our respective jobs, his with iBox Global and me still at the high school library. We celebrated the New Year with a visit from my sister and her family. Rebecca wasn’t able to be home for New Years, so we road tripped to Houston to help her celebrate her 30th birthday. She is still working at the same software engineering job, but with a new company, Lycos. They moved onto JSC (Johnson Space Center) so that’s pretty cool.

My parents and Kara came for a visit in February and we celebrated Mom’s and Liz’s birthdays. Mom and Dad are now both 85 and both doing quite well. In July, I drove them to Kansas City for a cousin’s daughter’s wedding. The McSparran weddings never disappoint and great time was had by all.

David and I spend our anniversary weekend at Lake Buchannan. Peak time for the wildflowers and the lake was up so we took the “Vanishing Texas” River Cruise. We also visited a couple of wineries while in that area. I’m always amazed at the many different vistas found in Texas! In May, David and Liz hiked the 4¼-mile trail (with a rise of 3000 ft.) to the highest point in Texas, (8,751 ft.) Guadalupe Peak. Talk abouta view!

The last week in July, we met my Tech roommates and husbands for a reunion in Alaska. What a great time we had, fishing, hiking, glacier cruise, campfires, delicious food and great company! It was David’s year to catch the big one…his king salmon estimated 45 lbs. We topped off the week with 2 days in Seward where we hiked to a glacier and participated on an amazing zip-line adventure.

In October we went to another reunion, David’s 35th reunion with his classmates from West Point. The leaves were at their peak and David enjoyed catching up with his buddies.

Trophy Point Our most exciting news this year is Maggie got engaged to David Rios. We are deep in the throes of planning as they are to be wed in April, 2017 on our 34th anniversary.
