Here's most of the July crowd.
Eric-NM5M, George-W5YR, Lew-N5ZE, James-KC5DSP, Chuck-W5USJ, Bill-K5JHP, and Martin-N5LIF with Don-K5DW behind the camera.
The door prize table looks pretty good!
Books, software, tuna tins, thermionic device holders (tube sockets), parts and more parts!
Chuck-W5USJ showed off his homebrew 2.4 GHz helix satellite antennas.
The first is for use in the feed horn of a parabolic dish and the second is a stand-alone model.
You do beautiful work, Chuck!
Lew-N5ZE, showed off his version of the Jackson Harbor Island II keyer
along with a nice set of Paddlette paddles.
Lew made the trip all the way from Austin for the meeting.
You win the prize money for "Most mileage to the Meeting", Lew,
but don't spend it all in one place!
Eric-NM5M, looks over the door prizes before making his selection.
So many prizes, worth so little!
George's-W5YR's setup for the "Lesson of the Month"
George demonstrated the procedure for determining the exact matching network needed
for a field antenna. And why some ATUs such as the KAT1 in the Elecraft K1 can't match
some antennas. The software used was EZNEC, TLDetails, LTuner, (all with demo
versions available) and SweepL, a program written by George (soon to be available on this web site.)
Great stuff, George!!
Well that's it for this month. We'd love to have you visit anytime you're in the area.
As you can see, we not only have a good time but we learn something in the process.
The front page of our website, www.netxqrp.org
always has the latest information on our meetings. Please stop by!
Hope to see everyone on Saturday, August 17, 2002 for our next meeting!
