In the year 2384 AD a decision was finally reached regarding world peace. The solution to the question
plaguing mankind since the dawn of history was to consolidate territory, the premise being that you don't shoot holes in
your own backyard. The result was the Unification for Peace Treaty. It created a world government with country/states.
Of course, there were always threats of civil war-but the nuclear arsenals were dismantled and destroyed, and generally
favorable conditions reigned. To preside over this complex government, a new body was formed under advisement from
all participants. They are called the Lords of Discipline. Established in the optimism of the decade following the signing
of the treaty, through the years, their power has insidiously expanded from political to pervasive, until now their Code and
Ethics control every aspect of society. The Board of Rule consists of twelve Councilors under a Supreme Lord. Under their
jurisdiction fall the secondary rank of command: the Lord Overseer of each country/state. The final level in the chain is
occupied by Governors in each major city of the world. Any settlement under five hundred thousand occupants is considered
under the control of the nearest city of that size. As a counterpoint to the Lords, Uniglobal Surveillance was chartered in 2458
to oversee the balance of power between the world states. It was initially envisioned as a sort of planetary SWAT team-a worldwide
police force. It acts as the muscle in putting down potential Resistance uprisings, but US has become much too public for covert
espionage. And so, in the year 2597, Full House was created. They are the creme de la creme; the best agents in a
century...and the most effective Resistance fighters that the Unified Globe has ever known. |
