WRITING LINKS:LYNN FLEWELLING'S WEBSITE: One of the best fantasy writers I have read, Lynn is the creator of the NIGHTRUNNER series. She writes skillfully about adult situations and her characters are among the most vivid I have ever encountered. She is a true inspiration, and someday I hope to grow up to be just like her! WRITERS' VILLAGE UNIVERSITY: WVU has something for everyone. As well as offering the free F2K CLASS they offer over 130 classes for $59 a year. Students may take as many classes as they wish for their tuition, and peer interaction is the basis for most of the feedback given. It is a wonderful place to make important contacts. Lifetime memberships are available. WRITERS WRITE -- THE WRITE RESOURCE -- BOOKS, PUBLISHING, AND WRITING: I'll admit that I haven't explored this one as thoroughly as I would like, but it is a great place to look for a writing job; search for guidelines; and just explore the profession. You can also search their darabase for your favorite authors. IDEOMANCER: A great site that I have just discovered, with science fiction, horror, fantasy, and flash stories to read. John Oz accepts submissions too, so read the guidelines and see if you qualify! NOVELBOOKS: My publisher...gee, that's the first time I've said that! *G* REFERENCE LINKSBaby Names From Around the World This is a really neat place to go to find unusual names with authentic feel. A must reference for writers. Guide to Grammar and Writing Handy online reference site for those pesky grammar rules that every writer loves to hate.... U.S. Copyright Office Homepage A link to the copyright office for when those manuscripts are ready to register. Character Generation Chart One of my favorite variations of the generic character chart, this works great for conventional fiction, though it is a little modern for the fantasy genre I usually work in. RESEARCH LINKSGlossary of Castle Terms This is a specific page within the "Castles on the Web" database, and the entire site is just great. This link will take you directly to the parts of the castle--like that little section of stone on the top of the battlements you want your bard to be perching on... Glossary of Arms and Armor Another good list for the fantasy or medieval romance writer. Shakespeare site This is a fun site to surf when you are looking for a good quote from the Bard--and didn't Shakespeare say it all at one point or another? Peter's Evil Overlord List Just for fun, because it is a wonderful site. For all those with aspirations of world domination...check this one out. MORE LINKS TO COME.... |
