My Tribute To




Axl Rose, born February 6, 1962 in Lafayette Indiana as William Bailey, changed his name to Axl Rose at the age of 17, when he found out who his real father was. The Axl prefix came from a band he rehearsed with in Indiana... LA Guns.







When Gun and Gardner left LA Guns, they were replaced by Steven Adler and Saul Hudson(SLASH). With the addition of Duff McKagan the band was renamed GUNS N ROSES. With a disasterous tour in 1985, GnR released an EP Live@?*"Like A Suicide" on the independent Uzi/Suicide label. Without advertising they sold 10 million copies in four weeks...

February 1988 saw the first internal rift when Rose was kick out, then reinstated within three days. Their debut album, Appetite For Destruction sold 20 million copies worldwide and reached number one in America a year after it's release date. In September 1991 the group released Use Your Illusion I and II. The Illusion set immediatly set astride the top two album positions in the billboard charts. The first occasion on which they had been thus dominated since Jim Croce enjoyed both number one and two spots in 1974.
