The Grey Wall

GREY WALL OF PAIN
by: Deena Resnickoff

The ever-present grey wall of pain
Frightening memories still remain

Occupying too much space within
Worthless reality that must not win

A burden I will accept no longer
As I continue to grow stronger

Despite the wall's persistent quest
To make me feel like second best

A tool to scale this obstruction
Rebirth after all the destruction

Inside of me, it's buried deep
After my heart went to sleep

Self-esteem is the key
So my inner child is free

A brick a day, then one more
The wall crumbles to the floor

All grey rubble disappears
With my pain, sadness and fears
