The Immortal
By:Tenna Perry

A faceless killer
Stalks my sleep
Blood dripping down
From his blackened teeth
A reminder of the innocent life
His insatiable appetite
Has just consumed

No knife nor gun,
Fire or sword
Can kill this shade of death
No feet can ever run
Or wings fly high enough
To escape his deathly grip
That comes out of the darkness
Pinching and tearing soft flesh

He is immortal
And knows no fear
For he is fear itself
Demonic and heartless
This monstrous fiend
He openly stalks
The secret places where
No one dares to tell

A killer that gives no peace
In life or in slumber
Who has haunted me
Some thirty odd years
But now his end
Is oh so near

Last night I turned and faced
This bogeyman of my dreams
His black hair and brown eyes
Were all too familiar you see
He is simply a ghost
From my distant past
Of a man long turned
To worm dirt and dust
For the boogyman of my dreams
Was once a living man
The one I once called Daddy
