Survivor Haven's
October 2001

While trying to think of an introduction to this month’s issue of Survivor Haven, one quote from an old radio show kept coming to mind. Some of you may even remember it, the music and the response that always followed the question of:
“Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?”

Well the “Shadow” isn’t the only one who knows what evil can lurk in the hearts of men. Americans found out on September 11, 2001 the type of evil that can indeed be lurking in the hearts of men. The cowardly attack upon innocent civilians and military personnel that day brought a new evil to American soil. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to all the victims, their families and friends who suffered loss and injury during the attack upon our country.

Never Forget

Survivor Haven also wishes to encourage all who can to donate to the various funds that have been set up to assist the families of the victims, firefighters, police officers and military personnel who were lost as a result of the attack. We also want to encourage all Americans to stand together and support both Mayor Guiliani and President Bush in the monumental tasks facing them.

The evil shown by the terrorists isn’t the only evil that is afoot in the world today. Ask any survivor of rape, child abuse or domestic abuse and they can tell you about well. Many can even tell you how that original evil took up residence in the hearts of the victims and fed upon the fear, hate and anger that also dwelled there.

If “Fear and anger are the paths to the Dark Side” then this month’s issue of Survivor Haven takes a look down that path and into the evil that lurks in mankind. October and All Hallows Eve has traditionally been a time of nightmares, fears and things that go bump in the dark.

This month’s issue offers stories of fright, dark humor, nightmares, anger and in some cases, revenge.

We at Survivor Haven wish to warn readers that some of the stories may prove to be extremely triggering and emotionally charged. We also want readers to know that we may not support violence; we can understand the feelings or need for revenge.
