I'll always remember the days 5-6 years ago when the Lunar series was on SegaCD and they always had those ads in the old EGM issues. I saw the artwork for the first time and thought to myself: I will get this game. Unfortunately, I was only 9 years old and there was no way for me to get a Sega CD. I then waited and wished that the game would be released for a system I actually owned. 5 years later, I learned of a PSX version in the works scheduled to be released out in march of 99'. I kept my fingers crossed, and delay after delay came and went, but it was finally released. I headed to the local EB and shelled out the 50 for it and headed home, eager to play it. When I opened the case and played the game for the first time, I was blown away. I knew that this game was only a remake of the original SS game, but this game exceeded all of my expectations. The free stuff that came with the game was a big plus.

First off, with any RPG like always, controls are not a concern. Menu navigation and character movement is easy and takes a couple of minutes to learn.
Graphics and sounds in this game are stunning for the remake. While the in game graphics are the same, albeit richer colors, the anime cutscenes with voices are absolutely spectacular in the short time they are present. Artwork has a distinctly anime ting, especially with characters. Voice acting is not the best, not the worst, but is nothing to fret over. Sounds are clear and loud, and the music is different yet perfect for this game.
Gameplay is the same as any RPG, with a little different battle system Lunar veterans will remember. Dialouge is translated excellently, and the cheap jokes thrown in here and there are absolutely funny. Kyle's character cracks me up. Just play the game.
This game is fun all the way through, the ending is long, but it is rather short (23 hrs.). Finishing this game left me yearning more, but luckilly working designs has answered my call with Lunar2: Eternal Blue Complete. There has been some delays already, but I can wait. A must have for any RPG'er and a great game to introduce players to the genere.-Joel-
