Well i never thought that a sports game could undergo so many changes within the span of one year, but nba2k3 does indeed change so much that playing lasts years version feels plain silly. In fact when i did boot up last year's version I was shocked. Everything in this years game has been totally overhauled. The passing, shooting, crossovers, dunks and overall feel of the game is just better. It moves so fluidly like no other b-ball game ever before. The graphics are sharp and smooth, and some of the dunks and crossover moves are just awesome to watch. if fact with all of this praise it has recieved so far you might be hard pressed to find any faults.
Well the truth is that faults and bugs run rampant throughout the game. Everything from dumb computer defense to balls going straight up into the air for no reason. Throwing to the person on th fast break almost always results in getting PUSHED out of bounds with no foul called. This will happen a few times a game. Biorythms are a nice touch but they tend to lie a little. When your best shooter has a normal biorythm and starts to miss wide open shots all of the time, well, that gets a little frustrating. Sure you can just shoot with someone else but it then turns into 4 on 5 basketball since that player is completly devoid playing. And if you ever get a key player ice cold then you may as well reset the game cuz he will botch dunks and layups. Also there seems to be a little cheapness with some teams. The Bucks may be the cheapest team in the game, and I mean cheapest. Ray Allen is a GOD on this game. Just fling up 3's all day long and he will make them contested or not. I scored 135 points with him one time. Reggie Miller and Paul Pierce are also pretty close to being God as well. Yes they are great players but they should have been toned down just a tad. Last gripe, the sliders suck. You will miss a whole lot and average around 70-80 points a game if you are real good. They could have been set to a better default setting.
Whoa, went on a little rant there. Don't misunderstand me. This is a wonderful little game that improves in almost every aspect except for the bugs. Next year's game should be fixed, but until then this will do just fine.
