My little rant on Nintendo of America!Nintendo of America, or NOA, has some serious flaws. My first complaint is that the Japanese gamers get all the cool games. Yes half of the greatest games for the system do not even make it over here. They think that we will not buy anything foreign because it is too strange. If that was the case then NOA today would not exist. The NES was foreign and we embraced it with open arms. NOA's logic does not make sense to me. The market is flooded with many strange games, yet they still make over here. Sega has at least some decency to allow a game played with maracas to import here.Another problem would be the games out for the 64. Except for Ogre Battle 64, which is not a real RPG anyway, there is no sign of RPG's on the system at all. This really angers me because now there has never been a better time to release one to the public with all of the success that Square has had.Instead of a cool RPG we get Quest. That is not right. Sony obviously cares. This is forcing many players to learn japanese and play on a emulator. But since NOA is so strict they want to abolish the only means an average gamer has to play a cool game without him having to spend $80 for a import that is not translated. If NOA was smart then they could hire translators and programmers to fix a game and then charge the public a fe dollars so NOA gets their money and we get translated games and everyone is happy. Right? No because they are so narrowminded. I don't mind having to pay for a service to let me play great games for the SNES or NES legally. One more thing. At least Nintendo is taking a right step foward with a CD based system. For years gamers were forced to buy cartridges that cost more with less memory and features on them than a CD.Companies got smart and designed games for Sony becuse of memory, A CD holds about 8 times as much as a cartridge. Square made FF8 which was 4 discs. Nintendo would have to sell a game that was 32 cartridges long? I don't think so. In the end NOA is not the worst, but, they are not close to being the best. The SNES was the last Nintendo console I purchased. It had a diverse selection of shooters, action, puzzle and RPG games. That is why I bought it and if NOA does not make up with the gamecube then it could be the last I buy!
