Well I got htis game at Funcoland, Theives, for $14 and was pretty excited to get home and play it. Well I got home and was somewhat disapointed in the game, the game is not bad but I did not think that it was the best shooter ever. When I popped it in I got a simple screen with the option of Easy Normal and Hard mode and a option screen. I began but before I played the 1st level, was treated to one amazingly good looking FMV movie with aabout a 5 minuite length. I did not know this machine could produce FMV quality movies. Anyway as soon as it ended I was ready for a great looking and playing game. As soon as it started I saw a closeup of the Dgragon and the rider in all of their jagged edge splendor. The graphics look pretty bad but thats not what makes a game anyway. I just assumed that the makers used up all of their memory on the FMV movies. Anyway you get a radar to see where your enemies are and a life bar. That all. It is like Star Fox in a way.
The enemies come at you, sometimes don't even shoot, and sometimes from behind. The Radar is very handy and lets you position yourself to prepare for the enemies attack. One gripe I have is that the stages are often harder than the bosses. Some didn't even hit me at all. The camera rotation gets annoying in the 2nd stage because you sometimes can't turn straight ahead. Oh well.
The music is great, I like the Title screen song a lot. The gameplay is like SF but it also presents a very difficult challenge that is gonna have many players playing for quite a while. I give it a buy because it is one of the actual good Saturn games that made it to the States. Just don't pay too much for it, like anything over $30.
