I have been hooked again. This game is just so much fun to play and really should be considred a classic, but SF2 for the SNES beat it to the punch. This is the championship edition which means, for those of you who have been living under a rock for ten years, you get to use the bosses from SF2. I realize that it is a trivial matter but it helps things overall, especially in the replay department.
I'll get the bad stuff out of the way first. The graphics should not make you lose any rounds but is not that good. It is the Genesis so I will let that pass. Another flaw is the Genesis controller which is only three buttons. A push of the start button will change from punches to kicks, however, this can cause you a match. This means that if you have a standard controller then there is no pause function. Fortunatley is doesn't hamper the gameplay too much.
Most everything else is on par with it's SNES counterpart. The moves are easy to preform and moves at a crisp clean pace. The digitized voices are not as clear as the arcade,DUH!, and the music is only okay due to the Genesis.Even with all of this, this has got to be one of the funnest fighting games to ever come out. It brought back memories of walking to the grocery store or going to a local arcade and pummeling somebody in the corner with Blanka, before prices rose to the atrocious $0.50 plateau.. The game is simple and easy to learn and was the last great SF game in the arcades before the rush of thunder and lighting/ turbo editions. Damn! I'm already getting tired and pissed by thinking of all those games. Either way the game is so cheap and fun it warrants a buy.
