To Hell with Pokemon Puzzle League!!!

Here is the ancestor of the lame palette-swap puzzle game, Pokemon Puzzle League. Virtually every concept and gameplay is borrowed from this game. So far in all of my puzzle game experience, this is by far the best one yet. Don't be fooled by impersanators. This game is helluva lot fun to play even if it is a SNES game. Well, let's get started.

Gameplay-If you played PPL on 64, you played this game from end to end. The concept is simple-a continually rising wave of colored blocks must be disintegrated before they reach the top. Disintegration occurs by matching 3 or more like color blocks. Colors are purple, blue, green, red, yellow, and a grey block with a ! on it. As you do combos (4 or more blocks at once) or chains (succeding sequence of dissappearing blocks w/out stopping), "garbage", a red or blue box with a face will fall on top of your enemy. Of course, the greater the chain or combo, the larger or more numerous the boxes. Eliminate the grey blocks to get a box of grey garbage, which cannot be eliminated by eliminating a regular trash box. The cursor allows blocks to be rotated at any point in the stack, and L and R raise the stack one level. Overall, difficult at first, but easy once you get the hang of it.

GFX and sound-The overall demeanor and look of this game is targeted toward a nintendo lover or younger audience. Yoshi is the main star, but he is supported by the cast from Yoshi's Island as selectable characters. Graphics are mainly bright primary colors with a little pastel thrown in. Music is typical for a puzzler-weird, but fitting. There is some voice done, but most is too hard to understand. The graphics are good, and the sound is not staticy. A decent effort.

Funfactor-You will probably not see your family for a couple of weeks after you discover this treasure, double if you have a buddy to play with. The modes story, endless, and vs. give enough variety to leave you on the set for hours on end. VS is the best by far, and its even better with a human. This, like most puzzlers equals tons of fun most of the time.

Replay-the replay on this game is pretty good, seeing that you will probably come back for more after you get hooked on it. Trust me, you will not get easily bored by this game at all.

Overall-This is a game that I STRONGLY recommend. Its lots of fun and its pretty easy to play. You will not regret shelling out the money for this, plus its much cheaper than PPL. A classic for any game library. Kudos to Nintendo for a great game!-Joel-
