First of all the game is pretty funny. It is not hilarious or groundbreaking, but just a little funny. The prblems I have about it are the cheapness of the game. First as mentioned in the other review, the save function sucks.Expect to playing for 2 hours straight at times. You only get to save when you get back in town. The problem is having to beat multiple stages or bosses per departure. It is annoying and needs to be fixed. Also do not expect the game from Square where you can roam around diffrent towns and collect items to help you along your quest. It is set in only 1 town! That is ridiculous and stupid. It limits the feel of adventure. There is also no world map. Instead of letting you walk to a destination on a map and encounter battles or something they blacken the screen and poof you are there.
Yet another complaint is the girly atmosphere when talking to a girl named MEL. There are gold stars and these little rodents outside of her house. It turns out they want to play with you.The problem is you have to play with them. Each one has a mini stage where good platforming is a must. At the end you get a chance to win a prize.I like the idea except for one small problem. The jumping control and physics are horrible. If you have played it before you know that when you attack you move back or the computer auto locks on a monster and you attack whatever is closer to you. Well since the platforms are small, when you attack a enemy on a platform then you just might fall off. In fact if you are on a regular sized platform and get hit then that might even kock you off.Forget about jump attacks. If you try to jump kick a enemy on a platform then you kill the enmy but instead of going foward and landing safely on the ledge, you fall straight down like a heavy rock similar to Simon Belmont. Also the stages look something like on sesame street.
I would gripe more but whats the point. You get the picture. The game is bad after all. do not let the first impression fool you. This is no fun. Square should be ashamed of this and Legend of mana.Just for kicks I will leave my first review of it up.Read on to see my first impressions.
Threads of fate is a action adventure RPG game with some diffrent aspects to it than the usual games out there. There are some great things about this cool game.
The first being the tokens you find all over various levels. The idea is to have copper silver gold and platinum coins to regain energy and MP if you die in a battle. Sort of like an arcade. If you don't want to use a coin then or just don't have one then you start the whole stage over again.
The character story lines are interwoven yet sepearte enough to give the feel of having 2 games for 1. I like the Mint characters attitude. The story is basically both of the characters searching for "THE RELIC" each with their own purposes. Mint wants world domination. I don't know why the other guy wants it for.
Anyway you can jump and freely move around the entire screen. The battles are similar to secret of Mana. Expect to play this game often.
As for the bad things, the save feature is horrible. You can only save at the inn. When you go off to find a piece of the ancient doll or run some other errand the game will not allow you to save in the middle of it. This is frustrating if you are low on coins and keep dying. Your only choice is to use the coins or to start way the hell over again. Also expect to encounter at least a couple of bossfights each time you leave the town.
That is another bad point itself. The game takes place in only one town. Thats right. Only one town in a RPG game. -1 point.
Even though there are a some bad parts of the game don't let it dissuade you from the sheer fun that this game provides. You could do a little better but then again you could do a whole lot worse.
