One month ago, relatives of the victims of columbine sued various compaines. Everything from music to movie companies were being either sued or put under a watchful eye by dumb censoring organizations. Anything that was valued or branded as entertainment was picked, dissected and studied to see the "effects" of its exposure. And of course Videogames were put on that list.
Doom was the first game to be blamed for the voilence. With it's hellish setting, literally, and off the wall voilence, for that time, made it a very easy target for victims and people who wanted it banned or censored. Other cmpanies were sued as well. One of the gunmen played Doom all day and all night. To me this was pretty dumb. Everyone was pointing the finger at music, movies and games. That seemed like easy prey. Even the parents were sued, which I think is BS as well unless they abused or neglected him, nut noone seemed to blame the root of the whole damn tragedy. The F#$@%$G kid who pulled the trigger.
Instead of focusing on the real problem, the stupid kid, they went after videogames. Now they want to ban them and censor them which is total BS. I hate it when some nut screws up and blames something else besides him/herself so they won't have so much heat on their back from the public. Instead of taking responsibility they balme anything to deflect the hatred towards him, which is entirely bogus.
I still have not heard what has happened in the court or whether or not a decesion has been made or not. But I hope it is that the greedy SOB's lose their case and shut the hell up. I realize that they lost family, but trying to get money from a company who had no intentions of killing anyone in the first place, but tried to provide entertainment, will not bring their loved ones back to life. I hope they don't try to sue the parents for money. They probably had no idea since the kid was probably so quiet and reclusive even when they tried to talk to him It's not like they laughed or danced when they heard about it. Instead they Should either sue the dumbass kid, probably won't get any money, or save all those lawyer fees they are spending left and right and instead build a nice memorial for the real victims instead.
