Dynamic Materials For Children's Ministry

"The Davis Family ministering in the street in 1983"

Through more than 25 years of teaching and ministering to children in churches and other outreaches, in Texas, Mexico and other countries we have learned many valuable lessons. We recognize the need to teach children within the Church and also to reach those outside the church walls; moreover we also believe that God wants to use the young believers of today to reach the lost in their own generation. We have developed a wide range of lesson plans, teaching ideas and valuable Bible games, that not only teach children, but encourage them to put their faith into practice, be overcomers in this world and be Godly examples to their friends.

"A handmade parrot costume helps us to teach children to memorize Bible verses during a "Children's Church" meeting OUTSIDE the building in a Reynosa colonia."

Having ministered for more than six years as full-time missionaries in Mexico, we particularly understand the needs and problems of small churches (especially those in 2nd and 3rd world countries) -

few resources

few workers

lack of space

lack of vision for children's ministry

yet GREAT NEED and GREAT POTENTIAL among the children!

"Children in a small village in Nuevo León, who had never heard of Adam and Eve and did not know who Jesus is."

Therefore we have tried to write our material with these points in mind, using only items and resources readily available in the home or any small community.

We recently compiled these materials into a new book format of more than 100 pages, that has been published as

"Teaching the Children of the 4-14 window".

This is also available in Spanish as "Enseñando a los Niños de la Ventana de 4-14", and a third book (in Spanish only at present) has many ideas for special events and outreach - "Alcanzando a los Niños de la Ventana de 4-14"

Also available in Spanish only is a teaching manual "Gózate en Cristo".

"A local pastor's wife teaching children a memory verse using a game involving throwing a beanbag."

As most parents and teachers know, it is very important to keep children interested (and active!) if they are to learn. We have developed two games which each last for about 30 minutes and can be played by up to 20 or more children. The games involve matching pictures while the teacher tells about Bible characters or important Bible events.

These materials (in Spanish or English) are now being used in children's ministry in the following countries:

United States (including in Indian reservations in South Dakota and New Mexico)

Mexico - Nicaragua - Guatemala - Panama

Costa Rica - Ecuador - Honduras - Peru

Cuba - Philippines - Vietnam - Israel

Kenya - Australia - Chile - England

El Salvador - Canada - Uruguay - Argentina
