In the morning, Joe made sure to sit next to Tai at breakfast.
"Tai. I saw something last night. I want to tell you about it, but not here. I'll tell you later. Haw about we stay here and rest for the day?"
"That's a good idea, Joe. Hey! Listen up everybody. We're going to take a rest day here. We've got food, water, shelter and we need the rest." A cheer went up from the group but the loudest cheer was from the digimon. They were still tired from defeating the Dark Masters.
"Great!" gomamon said."I'm going for a swim. Anyone want to come with me?"
"I will!" said Palmon.
"Me too!" said Izzy.
"Don't forget us!" said Tentomon, Agumon, Patamon, Gatomon, TK, Kari, Sora and Biyomon.
"Anyone else want to come?" Gomamon asked, looking at Matt, Mimi, Gabumon, Joe and Tai.
"No. I want to rest my feet." said Mimi.
Joe and me need to talk." said Tai.
"What he said." said Joe.
"I don't want to swim. My fur smells funny until it dries." said Gabumon.
"I'm going to get some food and wood for the fire." said Matt. "Maybe later."
"Okay then. Bye!" Gomamon and the swimming party laft for the lake and soon, Tai could hear things like "CANNONBALL!", "Marco!" and "Polo!" being yelled.
Gabumon and Mimi went off to sun themselves and rest thier feet. Matt went off to collect food and firewood. Tai sat down facing Joe and Joe told him everything that he had seen.
"No way! You're crazy! Matt wouldn't do that! You must've been seeing things Joe."
"No! It's true! It's all true! I saw Matt kiss Mimi while she was asleep."
"It's true. I saw it too. She was tossing and he kissed her."
"Gabumon! What are you doing here? I thought you were with Mimi. You didn't tell her what you saw, did you?"
"No. She didn't ask, I didn't tell."
"We're back!" Sora and the swimmers all trooped into the camp. TK and Kari were carrying a line of fish between them.
"We saw some fish in the lake so we caught some for dinner. Hope everyone is hungry."
"Dinner?" Tai looked at the sky. It was turning pink and red.
"Yeah, dinner Tai. You know, that last big meal of the day." Sora gave Tai a funny look. "Something wrong Tai?"
"No. Nothing. Joe and I just got caught up in talking and we didn't notice it getting late. Come on. Let's get those on the fire. I think Matt's back." The whole group began moving back to camp when suddenly they heard a scream and a thump. The whole group ran to camp and saw a large digimon attacking Matt and Mimi. Mimi was lying on the ground and Matt was trying to protect her.
"What's that?" Tai asked.
"That's Viromon. He's and evil virus digimon. His attack is Death Virus. He is the only digimon whose attack can be canceled by a special plant berry." Palmon said. "He's also a mega digimon."
"Agumon! Gabumon!" Tai yelled.
"Got it! Agumon warp-digivolve to..."
"Right. Here I come Matt! Gabumon warp-digivolve to..."
"Wargreymon!"
"Metalgarurumon!"
The two mega digimon ran into the fray. Wargreymon went and picked up Matt and Mimi to move them out of harm's way. He then joined up with Metalgarurumon and ganged up on Viromon.
"Metalwolfclaw!"
"Terraforce!"
Both attacks hit Viromon point-blank. He was reconfigured and sent to Primary Village in the form of a digi-egg. Unfortunately, he had already done what he was sent to do.
"Matt! Mimi! What happened?" The larger group of Digidestined were celebrating the defeat of Viromon but Sora had seen Matt crouching over Mimi. She ran over to them to find out what happened. She stopped dead when she saw Mimi and the state Matt was in.
Matt looked horrible. His usually sun-blonde hair was red and brown from caked blood in it. His face was bruised and his lip was bleeding. He had a long cut on his arm that went from his shoulder to past his elbow. He looked liked it hurt him to move his left leg at all.
Mimi didn't have the wounds like Matt but somethingwas very wrong with her. Her only wound was on her arm. It was small, only the size of a quarter and it wasn't really bleeding. But there was something else. Mimi was unconsious.
Just like Mimi to faint from 1 little scratch. She can be a wimp sometimes. I better go see what happened.
Sora ran over to Matt and stood next to him.
"Matt?! What happened? What's wrong with Mimi?"
Matt painfully stood up next to Sora and looked at her.
"Take Mimi back to camp. I'm gonna go to the lake and clean up." Before Sora could say anything, Matt had left.
