It was night by the time Matt got back to camp. He was desperatly trying to hide his wounds. Before he had gone to the lake, he had stopped by the camp and taken a few supplies out of Joe's med kit to patch himself up with. Everyone was worried about him but mostly TK. As soon as Matt walked into camp, TK jumped him.
"Matt!" TK yelled, clamping onto his brother. "Everyone was worried about you. I was too but I was brave and didn't cry 'cause nobody likes a crybaby." TK let go of his brother and looked up at him. "Are you proud of me for not crying?"
Matt looked down at TK and patted his head. "Yes TK. I'm proud that you were strong." Matt walked over to where the rest of the group was sitting and sat down.
"What happened?" Nobody had to look up to know who Tai was talking to. Matt looked at Tai then over to Mimi. She was still out cold. She also looked pale and weak. He looked back at Tai, then to the rest of the group, took a deep breath and began his story.
"After everyone went off to do thier thing, I went out to the forest. I walked around for a little bit, gathering food as I walked. Whe I got back to camp and dropped it off, I saw Gabumon walking over to Tai and Joe but I didn't really think anything about it. I went back into the forest to gather wood for the fire. When I got back to camp, Mimi was there. I dropped off the wood and we began to talk. Mostly about what we wanted to do when we get back to the real world. things like, would we tell our story in the form of a fiction story or keep it to ourselves and what we would feed our digimon."
Matt paused a moment to catch his breath and gather his thoughts. Then he began again.
"We heard this loud buzzing noise and looked up. That digimon Viromon was flying right at up. we both dodged and started to run into the forest. I was about 5 feet from the forest edge when I heard Mimi scream. I turned around to see him holding her 3 feet off the ground. He did his Death Virus attack on her and then dropped her. I tried to protect her but he was too strong. Too fast. I just wasn't able to... to..."
Matt hung his head. He was determined that he would keep his cool in front of everyone.
"I need to go think for a little." Matt stood up and began walking toward the lake edge. Tai began to get up and go after him but Sora stopped him.
"Let him go Tai." she said. "This is a big blow to him and he needs to deal with it his own way."
What do you mean Sora?" Tai asked.
"You haven't seen it?" she asked.
"Seen what? What are you talking about Sora?"
Joe stepped in here. "Tai. It's obvious. Matt likes... no, scratch that, loves Mimi. She loves him too. We all think that they are both too shy to say anything about it. Basically, he loves her but she doesn't know it and she loves him but he doesn't know it. We all need to find a way to make Mimi better. For her sake... and his."
"Hey everyone!" Izzy suddenly jumped up from where he was working. "The berry that will make Mimi better is called the Dragonberry. It only grows in 1 place in Server. At the base of Spiral Mountain."
"Well then," Tai said, "let's go get those berries!"
"Yea!" The whole group said.
AT THE SAME TIME
When Matt got to the lake, he began to play Mimi's song. but instead of being light and airy, it was slow and sad. Basically, it was her song slowed way down. When he was finished, he put his harmonica in his pocket and looked in the lake. He had heard that the lake could show you what was in your heart. Instead of seeing his reflection or a black spot, he saw diffrent pictures of Mimi. When he saw this he went back and sat by a tree. Then he did something he hadn't done since his parents got divorced. Something that he swore he would never do in front of anyone. He broke down and cried.
Okay, I know he did cry once in front of Tai, but that was diffrent. In that case, he was crying about his brother, not Mimi. I'm sorry if you don't like that last part but I think it makes the story better.
