"Matt? Matt? Wake up Matt."
Startled, Matt looked up from where he was lying. Sora was standing over him. Past her, he could see the sky was turning pink.
"Matt? Are you okay? you fell asleep here and we were worried about you. I came out here to see if everything was okay."
Matt sat up and blinked. He looked at Sora and then over to the lake. As he looked at the lake, he remembered what he had seen and felt tears building up behind his eyes.
"Yeah Sora. I'm fine. Just still waking up, that's all." Rubbing his eyes to hide his tears, Matt stood up. He looked back over the lake, then followed Sora back to camp.
As they walked, Sora jabbered happily about something Izzy had found last night after he left. Something about berries and Spiral Mountain.
"Isn't that great Matt?!"
"Huh? Oh. Sorry Sora. I was thinking about some other things. What were you saying again?"
"I was telling you that Izzy has found the location of some berries that will heal Mimi."
Matt stopped short, about 3 feet from the cave enterance.
"Really?"
"Yep. Come on over here. I got some stuff last night. We can make a strecher that one of out digimon can carry." Matt and Sora began working on a make-shift sling. By the time they were finished, the sun was already up. It bothered Matt that Sora had gotten him up when everyone else was still asleep.
"Um...Sora?"
"Yeah Matt?" Sora was looking over the sling, making sure that all the straps were tied tight.
"Why were you up so early this morning?"
Sora never stopped her work. "Well..." she said, "I couldn't sleep that well. I was sitting by the dying fire when I realized that you weren't there. I figured that you had gone to the bathroom and didn't really think about it. I went around gathering stuff for the sling. when you didn't come back, I figured that something was wrong. I went and looked for you and found you asleep by the lake."
Matt looked over at Sora, then back in the direction of the lake.
"I'm going to wake everyone up now. Do you wanna help me?"
"Sure. Why not?" Matt and Sora went around waking up humans and digimon alike.
After about 10 minutes, the only ones asleep were Tai and Agumon. Mimi was still out cold and she was looking worse. She was just lying there. She didn't even toss or turn like most sick people do.
Matt looked at Tai and his digimon. He was determined to heep his eyes off of Mimi's form. He knew that if he looked at her, all the tears that he kept bottled up would just pour out without control. Instead, he went over to Gabumon.
"Hey buddy."
Gabumon looked up at Matt. "Hi Matt. Do you need some help with something?"
"Acually, I do." Matt looked over at Tai and Agumon's forms. they both snored and slept on. Seeing this, Matt grinned like a cheshire cat. Gabumon looked over at Tai and Agumon, up at Matt's grinning face and back to Tai and Agumon. "Oooooohhhh. Right Matt."
Gabumon turned to the two sleeping forms and took aim.
"Blue-Blaster!"
The beam hit the ground between the two bodies. They both shot up like rockets. Even in his depressed state, Matt had to laugh with everyone else. Tai glared at Matt.
"That wasn't funny Matt!"
Matt crossed his arms and glared back at Tai. "Well, if you had been up, it wouldn't have happened in the first place."
Sora, seeing at fight was about to break out, stepped between the two guys. "Hey you two. Don't start. We need to get to Spiral Mountain's base so we can get the Dragonberries. We have to help Mimi."
Matt looked over at Mimi. "Right." he wispered. "Mimi."
