Waiting at the bridge
April
1990 – may 2000
I fell in love with the boxer breed in 1990 and it was due to this wonderful classic brindle girl. A friend of mine, fran Davidson, had boxers and did show on a limited basis. One wonderful day I meet a new litter of puppies that she had. In this litter was mugs. Mugs had one litter in her life. One of her favirote things in the world was to run at break neck speed around and around the yard, come straight at you, jump in the air and then change course at the last minute. She lived a quiet life with her friends here in my home and my grandson was a love in her life. She worried about him and was never far from him. In may 2000 she developed a very fast growing cancer and by the time we discovered it, it was to late to do anything but let her go as she lived with as much dignity as possible. She came over to me kissed me goodby and then trotted to meet her lifetime friend lady who had gone on before on August 10 1999. I still cry when I think of it.
may 1984 – august 10, 1999
lady was with me from the time she was eight weeks old. I always wanted a border collie and when I found lady, it was love at first site. She was such a tiny ball of black and white fur. Her energy level was more then I planned for, but we soon worked out a system. That system was simple, I stood still and threw a tennis ball and she caught it and brought it back. She raised mugs when the young boxer pup came home and she has to her credit opening and eating an entire case of canned cat food with the pull rings on top. I lost her the same day I lost chip, it was not a good day. However, I know that she is romping with chip and mugs in a better place and she no longer feels any pain.
Mystique’s mister chips “Chip”
Chip was my buddy. He traveled with me when I moved from Kansas city to texas and was never far from my side. He had a rough start in life and we were not sure he was going to make it, but he did. He started is life in my kitchen and when he was old enough he went to live with my friend fran Davidson. Then when we knew his mother, mugs, would not have any more puppies, fran gave chip to me as a Christmas present. She always said he was happier at my house anyway. After we moved to dallas I came home one day and chip was gone. My daughter and I searched every where but could not find him. We posted flyers, called and visited animal shelters, but no chip. Then about 4 months later I received a call that chip had been found. He was covered with fleas, had some open wounds and turned up heartworm positive, but he was home. Even we took care of his wounds, fleas and worms he was never quite the same. after about three years of fighting hard to be healthy he left my side on august 10, 1999. losing him was tough enough and the fact that lady went with him the very same day was even worse. He will remain always special in my heart and my life.
