Venus is the Roman name for Aphrodite.
Her symbols include a sceptre, myrtle, dove, lime tree, swan, and dolphin.
Her weapon was the cestus. It was an embroidered girdle containing passion and desire. It gave beauty, grace, and elegance to the most deformed, excited love, and rekindled old flames.
The only three Goddesses who were able to resist Aphrodite's powers were Athena, Artemis, and Hestia. An interesting note; these Goddesses were all virgins by choice.
The constallation Pisces is protected by Poseidon and commemorates Aphrodite and Eros' escape from Typhon by transforming into fishes.
Aphrodite is also the patron Goddess of Prostitues.
