Mommy had her last OB appointment November 19th, and her doctor agreed to induce. Daddy flew in Wednesday night and they arrived at the hospital at 6 a.m. Thursday morning. They started the pitocin at 6:15. Mommy had already been having a few contractions on her own, they just weren't productive. So once the pitocin was started, it didn't take long for them to get regular. At around 9 they saw that mommy's blood pressure was getting too high, so they gave her a medication called magnesium sulfate. At 10:30 the doctor came in and broke her water. The contractions really picked up then, so mommy decided to get an epidural. They got that going around 11:30. Not too much longer after that, mommy started hurting again, so they came back in and made the epidural stronger, which turned out to be a mistake. What they didn't realize was that the pain mommy was feeling was my head moving down into position! At about 12:30 or so, a nurse came in to put a catheter in, and when she looked, said "oh my goodness, there's the baby's head!" So the nurses had to scramble really fast to get the doctor and all the equipment set up. They were telling mommy not to do anything, but she wasn't, she says she could feel me moving out on my own! The doctor got there, and three pushes later I was out! Mommy said it was neat, because she couldn't feel a thing and got to just sit and watch. She didn't even have to push very hard. I hung out with mommy for about an hour before they took me to the nursery. Mommy had to stay on strict bedrest and observation for 24 hours because of the blood pressure medication, but she says I'm worth it! We were released from the hospital on November 23rd. On discharge I had only lost 2 ounces. We are staying with Grandma because Daddy had to go back to his station. I am doing very well though, and mommy says I am a very good baby, as long as you don't make me mad.
