A Healing Touch
Welcome to "A Healing Touch" where you will find information on depression, anxiety, thoughts of suicide and how to deal with them. I am not a psychologist, or a professional in this matter. Rather, I am one who has suffered from depression, and anxiety which has actually led me to wonder if it was worth going on, or not.
I am a born-again-Christian, so don't think it doesn't happen if you are close to the Lord, because those things can happen to anyone. There is just as much depression, and if the truth be known, maybe even more among Christians but it often goes untreated as most Christians feel a sense of guilt when they suffer these problems. I know that I did not want to admit that I could not handle all of my problems by just reading my Bible and praying. Now, don't get me wrong, I do read my Bible and I do pray and I believe I would not be here if not for those as my faith in the Lord is what I believe has kept me alive and brought me through some very, very rough times.
The point I am trying to make is that all people can suffer depression and anxiety and it is not a sign of weakness to admit to them. It may be the strongest thing you have ever done. Seeking help is a way of admitting that you do not have it all taken care of. And believe me, the Lord led me to a clinic with all Christian counselers and personel so I was not out there amongs wolves as some Christians would have you to believe. God's arms are not so short as not to be able to keep us in his hands at all times when we stay in his will.
In this website you will find information describing depression, anxiety, and other pertinent facts that you might find helpful. I have also inclosed some pages with words of encouragement to help families and friends of those who are suffering from these problems. I know it takes a special person to deal with this in others. If you have family members dealing with depression, I know you get tired and begin to feel like there is no one who understands what you are going through. Well, that is not true, there are a lot of us out here who know exactly what you are going through and are willing to be of encouragement.
I have some other sites available that you might enjoy. They are listed below.

This last one above is one I wrote and deals with domestic violence and the families of domestic violence. I emphasizes that it is not just the husband and the wife of domestic violence that suffer, but the entire family. I hope you will not find this too depressing, but I was able to find a great deal of healing when I wrote this. Even though my parents were able to get beyond their problems, and I was able to forgive them of all we went through during those years, I still had the scars of growing up under those conditions. I guess sometimes it just has to come out in the open to heal.
If you have a moment I would appreciate it if you would take the time to fill out my little questionaire. It is not mandatory, but it gives me an idea who is visiting this website.
