Daniel's Eyes
A step away from giving up
and throwing it all away.
Until that angel touched my soul
one sweet October day.
So fearful, he and I alone.
I tried to soothe his cries.
Then I saw my destiny in Daniel's eyes.

His first words came just yesterday,
and few will understand
how time sneaks in so quickly,
and the boy becomes the man.
I've learned it's not the times he fails,
but how many times he tries.
I can always find my strength in Daniel's eyes.

Daniel's eyes assure me
that all is never lost.
He knows I'd live and die for him,
no matter what the cost.
And even though the rain may fall
and storm clouds fill the skies,
I can always find the sun in Daniel's eyes.

The knowledge that he's leaving soon
weighs heavy on my chest.
But, I'll be content in knowing that
he knows I did my best.
Take comfort that I raised him well
when his dreams are realized.
And I see no regrets in Daniel's eyes.
