Angel With No Halo

My whole life changed forever
on the evening that you came.
An angel with no halo
but perfect, just the same.

When I held you in the morning,
you seemed so small and weak.
But you grasped my finger tightly
And you pulled it to your cheek.

So excited, so afraid.
What kind of mother would I be?
I must be pretty special
for God to trust your life with me.

And now I see you growing
and you're changing everyday.
And I have to smile in wonder
as I watch you run and play.

I sometimes watch you sleeping
in the middle of the night.
My fears subside, I realize
we've both turned out alright.

As I lean to kiss my angel
snuggled warmly in your bed,
I could swear I see a golden halo
just above your head.
